This is your Captain Speaking!
Hello Birdneck Family,
We had a huge turn out at our Pizza Bingo night thanks to all of our staff who joined us:
Molly Searfoss, Helen Fuss, Nancy Bishop, Teresa Stewart, Margarita and Tim Lietzke, Elizabeth Morrison, Cheryl Valeriano, Lidsay Traister, Allison Bruffy, Christine Hayes, Rhonda Harrison, Bonnie Hartman, Bonnie Saunders, Krista Williams, Lisa Allman, Michele McNeil, and Gina Wilson!
We have a few new staff members to introduce. Tyler Peterson has joined us as a TA, Kathy Darvishian is our new Grade 3 teacher, Lindsay Traister is our new Kindergarten teacher. We are lucky to have found these three amazing educators. Please introduce yourself and give them a warm welcome when you get a chance.
Here's to another AMAZING week!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Captain out,
RV Yoshida
"Be Sure To" is a great video about students setting goals for themselves. It is in a middle school classroom but is very appropriate for our kids at the elementary level.
Shout Outs!
Please continue share shout outs with RV so we can post the awesomeness here on our Smore.
I just wanted to give a huge shout out and thank our wonderful Special Education TA"s. They are doing an amazing job and are so selfless...
Michelle McNeil is always willing to assist with anything and steps in when she sees others have their hands full.
Deanna Turner is amazing and great with all the kiddos. She is eager to help and jumps into our routines daily, offering her assistance and support.
Lastly, our newest staff member Tyler Peterson is phenomenal. He is really making a connection with all the kiddos and he is so patient. Especially today, he came back by my class to make sure everything was good and I asked him to carry one of our young ones to the bus as he had recently fallen asleep. Unfortunately the child became sick before getting to the bus. He carried him to the office and sat with him, even though he himself and been thrown up on.
Thank you for such a wonderful staff, we truly couldn't do our jobs without them...
WOW! K-2 SpEd TA, Mr. Tyler Peterson, was a champion today. Beyond his daily care and patience with our young kiddos, today he carried a sick child (while vomiting!) to the clinic. Thank you for loving kids at their best and their worst. J
Thanks to everyone who brought Fall Treats. Treats were Delish!

Learning Commons
Hello All,
The Learning Commons in our library is a space for everyone’s use and we want to see great activities where students are using the 5 C's. Please remember there are also lessons being taught by our librarian, speech teachers and PALS teachers in close proximity.
When other students are having lessons in the library or offices housed in the library, they might be easily distracted by the excitement of students in the Learning Commons. Reminding students to be respectful of others while they are trying to learn will help minimize distractions. Entering the Learning commons using the doors on the primary side of the building will also help.
When more than one class is going to be using the Learning Commons, distractions could increase so again, please remind students to keep their volume at a reasonable rate. It is also important that table areas are cleaned and straight prior to leaving so the next groups will have a clean and ready space available.
Please coordinate with the library staff to schedule use of the Learning Commons space for groups larger than 25 to minimize disruption of library, speech and PALS activities and lessons.
Thank You!
