Attendance Matters at CES
As a school community, we value a positive attendance pattern and arriving to school on time. Every minute of the day is important to a student’s growth and development. Research has shown that a positive attendance pattern leads to higher success and achievement.
As you begin to prepare for your scholar's year at CES please consider establishing the following habits from the first day:
Establish a regular bedtime and morning routine
Get up early enough in the morning to allow for any unexpected delays
Have your student’s lunch and backpack packed and ready the night before
Send your scholar to school unless they are too sick (ie: fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and contagious illnesses are reasons to remain home)
Schedule appointments or extended trips so that they do not interfere with your scholar's school day.
CES scholars may enter the building at 8:35am and the school day begins at 9am with our morning announcements. Please try your best to get your child to school closer to the 8:35 time so that students have a chance to unpack, greet the teacher, complete morning work, view our morning announcements, and have a smooth start to their day.
It is important to note that if families plan on taking their student(s) out of school for an extended period of time, the student will be given 5 days of vacation time and the rest of the absences will be unlawful. Families should keep this in mind as they are planning vacations or trips throughout the school year.
Redistricting Information
Our School Is in the Redistricting Study Area
IMPORTANT! A school redistricting study, begun in January 2019, includes ALL Linganore-Oakdale-Urbana area schools. The BOE must establish attendance areas and feeder patterns for new schools in response to FCPS enrollment growth.
