StJP Faculty Day September 1, 2015
Welcome Back
World Day of Prayer
Sign of the Cross Introduction:
On August 6, 2015, Pope Francis announced that the Roman Catholic Church will join with their Orthodox Brothers and Sisters in celebrating an annual Day of Prayer for Care of Creation.
Mediation: Canticle of the Sun When he became Pope, the Holy Father took the name Francis in honor of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis firmly believed that all of nature was a mirror of God himself. He referred to all creatures as his brothers and sisters. As he was recovering from an illness in the year 1224, he wrote the poem, Canticle of the Sun as a prayer of praise and worship of God. Let us listen (or sing) to the words of this poem which have been set to music.
Prayers of Petition O Lord, grant us the grace to respect and care for Your creation. We pray: Lord, hear our prayer.
O Lord, bless all of your creatures as a sign of Your wondrous love. We pray: Lord, hear our prayer.
O Lord, help us to end the suffering of the poor and bring healing to all of your creation. We pray. Lord, hear our prayer.
O Lord, help us to use our technological inventiveness to undo the damage we have done to Your creation and to sustain Your gift of nature. We pray: Lord, hear our prayer.
In his plan for creation, God empowered humankind as stewards of the earth. Let us remember to praise God each day as we take in the beauty of our created world. We ask this in Jesus’s name. All: Amen.

Teambuilding
1 or 2 minutes Purpose: Reminds players of their personal and professional strengths Participants: Any number of players in partner pairs
Materials needed: Paper and pen for follow-up assignment Instructions:
Each player has 15 seconds to tell their partner ten things they do well.
Follow-up assignment is for each participant to make two lists: one, a list of ten things they do well professionally and the other a list of ten things they do well personally.
They must take each list and post in a conspicuous place — one at home and one at work. The action plan is to read one or both lists every day — forever!
Desired outcome: Those who complete this assignment will feel a greater sense of confidence and pride within 21 days.
