Mrs. Stevens' Update
April 27, 2015
“Be the change you want to see in the world.” -Gandhi
Good afternoon Benefield family! Happy Monday…only 18 more days. Hats off for surviving your first week of GMAS testing! Many blessings to you this week. I know you will finish strong. I will be at Benefield all day on Wednesday and Thursday. Feel free to sign up for a time to meet with me using this link http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090849afaa29a31-moments1. My temporary office space is located next to Mrs. McNally’s classroom/office. Feel free to stop by! Email me if you need to see me, but there is a time conflict.
As you know more than half of our students will be coming from Alford, Cedar Hill and Lawrenceville Elementary next school year. I am currently working with these schools to gather as much information as possible to assist us in matching students with teachers; therefore, class lists may not be available before you leave for the summer. With this being said, we will not have the traditional “Step Up Day” this year. This decision is due in part to so many of our students transitioning to Baggett or Jackson Elementary schools. We would not want to exclude any student from this annual Benefield tradition. Thank you in advance for supporting this decision.
We will be offering Flamingo Summer this summer. Students from Alford, Cedar Hill and Lawrenceville Elementary schools will be invited to participate. This is a great opportunity to interact with our future students and parents in a social setting. If your schedule allows, please volunteer some time to our Flamingo Summer Program. Karon Stocks will send out a SignUpGenius to sign up for dates and times.
Many of you have inquired about Collaboration Tuesdays since we will be a late school next year. Collaborative Tuesdays will start at 7:15 a.m. and will end at approximately 8:30 a.m. I realize that this is early so please plan accordingly.
Starting the week of May 4, I will be visiting classrooms during my time at Benefield. Relax! My visits will not be evaluative in nature. I just want to see best practices in action. Email me if you would like for me to visit your classroom.
Kindest regards,
Shonda Gipson Stevens
