A Vision for the Future!

Hello Howards Grove Parents & Guardians:

Over the past several months you should have been reading and receiving information from the school district requesting your feedback on the vision for our schools. Many residents have been showing up to our community input sessions, both in March and earlier in April.

If you were unable to attend, we still want to inform you and give you an opportunity for feedback. First, we have created a link on our homepage specifically designated for the discussion on a potential referendum in November of 2022. Here is the link to that website.

During the April community input sessions, the architects from PRA presented slides on our long range master plan and included some pricing options. It became quite clear while preparing for these sessions, that all the work that needs to get done in our buildings cannot happen in one phase. Due to state statue, the district can't borrow the amount of money needed to fix and/or rebuild everything that should be done all at once. So the goal is to begin talking about our long range plan and what we should focus on first. Here is the link to the slide show from our April meeting. Please take a look.

Finally, after you've taken a look at the slide show, please take a few moments to fill out this brief survey to give us your feedback. This survey is the same questionnaire that in-person attendees filled out during our April Input Sessions.

Feel free to reach out with any questions. The next step will be to present all the information we gathered at the board meeting on Monday, April 18th at 6PM in the high school library. In person attendance is welcomed, but we also offer a Zoom link to join virtually. Here is the link for the meeting.

Thanks for the support!

On Friday, April 8th, the Howards Grove Education Foundation hosted an amazing event featuring ComedySportz, delicious food from Parker Johns, silent and live auctions, and an overall fun night for our school community.

The foundation is still tabulating all the funds, but preliminary results are showing close to a $35,000 profit! Thanks to each of you that came out and supported this great event. All of the money raised will benefit the school district. While they haven't picked a feature project to fund yet, clearly this amount will be a huge gain for the district.

Special thanks to all members of the Howards Grove Education Foundation. You are greatly appreciated.

Communication Chain

As questions or concerns arise, please continue to follow this communication chain.

FIRST, Reach out directly to your child's teacher/team/coach.

In the event your concerns are not addressed or you need further support, NEXT reach out to the building principal or activities director.

Jon Hess- High School Principal:

Angie Houston- Middle School Principal:

Sarah Ellinger- Northview Principal:

Tracy Mueller- Athletic/Activities Director & Special Education Director:

FINALLY, if you still need additional support, please reach out directly to me, Shannon Kilton, Superintendent:

In the event, we have all failed to help you navigate your questions & concerns, your last stop would be to reach out to the school board. Here is the actual board policy on navigating this process.

I am personally asking for this communication chain to help us all develop positive and trusting relationships, which are always grounded in open and honest conversations. Most often, concerns can be easily solved when we all talk directly to the person involved with the question or problem.

Thanks in advance for the support and understanding of this process.
