Message From Superintendent Mueller
Happy Thursday, Coronado!
Congratulations to all for the successful completion of the first semester/term! Don’t forget there is no school for students tomorrow. Our teachers will be working on finishing grades and preparing for next term.
Our student absence rate continues to drop (5.4%), but staff absences remain high (8.5%). Our Human Resources team has been working tirelessly to onboard substitutes in order to continue serving our students. Thank you to the many community members who answered our call and joined our substitute team!
Recent revisions to the Covid decision tree allow students to provide a negative Covid test in order to request an early return from isolation/quarantine (on day 6 through 10). In support of our school community, we have expanded Covid testing opportunities for staff and students. Free testing will be offered at the Covid Command Center (CHS Black Box Theater) during the following hours: Monday: 8am - 10am, Wednesday: 12pm - 2:30pm, Thursday: 12:30 pm -2 pm. Alternatively, students are welcome to test at home, take a picture of their results and send it to our Covid team or bring it to the Covid Center to receive a pass that qualifies them for early return to school.
In alignment with our Long Range Plan, we have created robust pathways in our K-12 arts programming. As a result we have more students than ever poised to enter the award-winning Coronado School of the Arts program at CHS. If you or your student (of any age) has interest in exploring a future opportunity at CoSA, put Monday, February 7 at 6pm on your calendar for ‘CoSA Preview Night.’ See flyer below for details.
The Governing Board will appoint an interim trustee to fill its vacant board seat. Coronado residents interested in applying for the position can find more information and an application on the district website.
Please enjoy a well-deserved and restful weekend.

Caught Being Awesome!
As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge, and champion our students during the COVID Pandemic, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments during these trying times. What a positive testament to our CUSD family!
- Kristine Johnston: We have had to lean on Kristine heavily through a trying time the last year and a half and she is always super responsive and quick to offer great suggestions to try and keep our daughter's needs on track! We'd be lost without her!
- Tami Bromley is an excellent teacher! My son has learned so much in her class. In these challenging times, she never waivers from being a strong, dedicated, loving, and inspiring educator.
Thank you to our students, parents, staff, and community members for the outpouring of love and support for one another!
Click here to recognize an employee or volunteer who goes above and beyond to make a difference. Those who are "caught" will receive a copy of the positive words that were shared about them and a "Caught Being Awesome" decal. Please take a minute or two to brighten someone else's day!
