Soul Café Helpful Hints
It is up to each individual if you want to set up/make coffee before service or during service (I personally feel better if I prep before service)!
**YOU HAVE TO RUN A "TEST POT" OF JUST WATER BEFORE MAKING COFFEE!!!**
Coffee (see instruction sheet in drawer under the coffee maker) typically 2 pots regular and 1 decaf.
If service looks like a “larger” crowd you can make 1 regular pot during soul café.
Treats- usually can be found on top of the soul café cart or on kitchen counter.
At times they may be located in the fridge or freezer,
but we try to let you know if that is the case.
Juice, Milk, & Coffee can be brought to the gathering area on a cart from the kitchen.
You can serve coffee from carafes located underneath island in the kitchen.
Napkins, stirrers, cups, etc should be in the soul café cart. Please make sure the sugar, sweet n low, stirrers, powdered creamer, and napkins are on top of soul café cart to be easily accessible. If something is low you can look in the back kitchen pantry. If you notice something is empty or running low please let Mary or Camilla know.

Big Surprise this Sunday!
We've been searching for our next Director of Music and Choir since last August...and have a wonderful candidate joining us in worship this Sunday! I won't spoil the surprise too much by offering a name or description...but I do hope we can pack the sanctuary and show some radical hospitality to all of our guests this weekend. Our "potential candidate" will be joining us at both 8:45 and 10:45!
To that end, this would be a great weekend to invite your friends to worship. That way, they would also receive the warmest possible greetings from our Prospect family! :-)
We'll be diving into Mark 4 and the "Parable of the Sower."
Valentine’s Day Remembrance Boxes
Congregational Care will be sending Valentine's Day Remembrance Boxes for our college students and military personnel. Recipients do not need to be associated with PUMC, this is open to everyone! The Valentine's table will be in the Gathering Area through February 9th. If you would like to donate items, please bring pre-packaged goodies: crackers, candy, peanuts, gum, mints, microwave popcorn, granola bars....the list goes on! Labels will be provided for names/addresses of those you wish to receive boxes. There will also be a box available for monetary donations to go towards postage to mail the packages.
Illinois River District Equipping Event
Illinois River District Equipping Event:
Sunday, February 9th from 2:00-5:00 at Crossroads UMC
The "time to build up" has arrived: It is the 2020 Illinois River District Equipping Event! The event is all about building up this year---every aspect of being connected with the United Methodist Church. From the Key Note speaker, Dr. Safiyah Fosua, to being spiritually lifted up by The Heritage Ensemble, to being engaged by leaders in the breakout sessions, you and your leaders will discover how to see all the people God is calling to be a part of the Kingdom.
If you are currently in a leadership position within the church, or plan to be in the near future, we ask that you join Pastor Steve for this event.
Prayer Ministry Team
Brett and Rebekah will be praying in the Library/Lounge 15 minutes before the start of our early service (i.e. at 8:30) and at the Sanctuary Altar immediately after the early worship service. As always, they will be leading times of prayer during and after our 10:45 worship service and at our 525 midweek fill-up on Thursday evenings (6:00).
Anyone is welcome to come and receive prayer during these times.
We would also LOVE to have more prayer warriors on our team.
Join us as we pray for revival in the lives of our members and in our community!
ASH WEDNESDAY LOVE FEAST: February 26th
Make plans to join us for our traditional Ash Wednesday service, complete with the imposition of ashes, marks the start of our 40-day journey through the season of Lent (culminating with Easter Sunday’s services of Resurrection!). Our Love Feast on this Ash Wednesday will be conducted in a similar manner to those celebrations in the early Methodist movement. We will gather around tables and feast on hot tea and hot cross buns.
CENTRAL IL BLOOD DRIVE @ PUMC
At our first drive last month, we were able to collect 6 units of blood at the drive. Plus, we had 8 first time donors. The 6 units will help 18 critically ill patients in the hospital. FANTASTIC!
The next drive is scheduled for March 14th. Contact Dani to sign up or click the link below!

Our Conference Our Kids
Our Conference Our Kids is endowing the Spiritual Life Ministries at the Baby Fold, Chaddock, Cunningham Children's Home, Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House, and Spero Family Services to ensure the continued inclusion of Christ-Centered Spiritual care in their healing work.
PUMC has been a generous giver to this asking and we were issued a challenge on December 8 to give $2,500.00 to this endowment fund. We have not given any money to this asking for the past year and I would like to see PUMC meet this challenge if not exceed it. You may give to the church and note this is for Our Conference Our Kids and it will be forwarded to the conference.
This fund helps the spiritual lives of at-risk children and families. As we move to the next 50 years, let us not forget who will benefit for the next 50 years. 100 percent of what you give will go toward Our Conference Our Kids. Please give and pray for these children and the staff that works with them.
