Week of October 23 -27, 2017
October Student of the Month
Gabriel Ciezlak
6th
Robin and Matthew Ciezlak
Gabriel is extremely respectful to everyone he encounters. He comes to class on a daily basis ready to learn and does everything he needs to do in order to be successful. He is willing to help with anything that is needed. He is enjoying being in his Language Arts class with Ms. Filo this year, and has mentioned that he loves to be able to read and learn in this class. Gabriel is also willing to do the right thing even when it is not the popular thing to do. This is not an easy thing to do in middle school, and Gabriel stands up and does the right thing over and over again. Gabriel wants to succeed and wants to do his very best no matter what it takes. Outside of school he enjoys playing video games and spending time with his family.
Mattie Carter
Grade: 6th
Parents' names: Tracy and Darrin Carter
Winifred "Mattie" Carter is a great student, a great friend, and overall a great person. Mattie always comes to class ready to learn and is always ready to give peer support to others whenever they need it. Mattie always gives her best in class and never complains. Mattie enjoys being in the HMS Choir this year and loves singing. Outside of school, she spends time with her family – supporting her older sister who plays softball, helping her mom cook family dinners and playing cards. Mattie is always respectful to both teachers and classmates alike and truly is the embodiment of what it means to be a Husky!
October Teacher of the Month
Grades/subjects taught: 6th and 8th Science and IPC, Exploring Engineering, and the Robotics Club
Mr. Blanco has 12 years experience as a teacher. Two of those here at Hughes Middle.
His hobbies are playing strategy games, collecting anything Star Wars related, and hanging out with my new baby girl Sophia Rae
Mr. Blanco makes learning fun and he makes it interactive where we are doing and learning at the same time. He is also patient with his students and if they don’t get it, he teaches the concept another way. Plus he always gives multiple examples while using real life situations to help us understand what he is teaching.
Box Tops Due!
Remember to put them in a baggie and write your name and pack teacher's name on the baggie.
The pack class with the most box tops wins an ice cream party!
Postponed : Academic Carnival
Please begin playing your activities now. As this is the third year of the carnival, it would be great to see some new activities and games.
We are also trying to secure IN and OUT Burger for the carnival.
