Spreading Kindness
Mary Anderson- Thank you Mary for always being willing to help us out and always doing it with a smile! Your positive personality is a blessing to have at the front desk of our school.
Elizabeth Dowden and Kelley Marrow for helping 3rd grade with our reading intervention groups on Tuesday's and Thursday's. They are helping us support ALL kids with reading and comprehension skills.
Keep those shout outs coming! All recipients of shout outs will go into a drawing for Sonic Teacher of the Week and free lunch from Chick-Fi-La on our Monthly Spirit Mondays.
Spotlight on Strengths
A big shout out to Karen Flusche! Karen is always considering the perspectives of others, especially the students in her class. She has this very calming temperament that often sooths most any situation. She leverages her top two strengths of empathy and being an arranger multiple times every single day as she handles the challenging needs of her students. You've probably heard her say, " I can only imagine what ... This student isn't making choices that will help him now, but I believe he can turn this around if he just has time to think and cool off." She is flexible in the midst of being extremely organized.
People strong in the Empathy theme can sense the feelings of other people by imagining themselves in others' lives or others' situations.
People strong in the Arranger theme can organize, but they also have a flexibility that complements this ability. They like to figure out how all of the pieces and resources can be arranged for maximum productivity.
Thank you Karen for always thinking through the lens of your students' perspectives as you pause and reflect to carefully arrange an environment in which high levels of learning occurs for all the students you serve. I can only imagine how much thought you put into filling those deficits in those tanks that come in running on empty!
Spotlight on Strengths
A big shout out to Cassie Nap! Cassie moved from Kindergarten to fifth grade in her second year of teaching. She clearly understands her purpose as a teacher is to provide an engaging atmosphere where all students are learning at high levels. Cassie leverages her top two strengths of belief and responsibility as she combines her belief that all of her students will learn while taking full ownership of their learning. Cassie attended the Assessment for Learning conference with us last summer and began developing a system for students to know right where they are as learners. She is reflective and willing to revise and refine this process in her classroom as she notices the impact it's having on student learning.
People strong in the Belief theme have certain core values that are unchanging. Out of these values emerges a defined purpose for their life.
People strong in the Responsibility theme take psychological ownership of what they say they will do. They are committed to stable values such as honesty and loyalty.
Thank you Cassie for combining your strengths to provide a dynamite learning experience for your kids. It was awesome to receive a shout out from one of your student's parents saying how much he loves school this year and how engaged he is in continuing the learning process when he gets home. You spend hours researching, planning lessons, analyzing data, and refining your practices. As a result of your hard work, there's evidence that you are inspiring passionate learners!
