Team news & requests
We had a very successful start to the school year. Students have been busy learning new standards, making new friends and becoming acclimated with Google classroom.
As we quickly approach the holidays and onto the second half of this school year, we have a few supply requests for the team. These include: tissues, paper towels, hand sanitizer, and Lysol. With the cold season coming, these supplies will be extremely important in helping control the spread of germs.
At this point in the year, students should be well aware of daily expectations for each class; including bringing necessary supplies daily, homework, preparation for upcoming quizzes/tests and procedures for missing, late and retest opportunities. Students are required to bring necessary material daily to each class. This includes their agenda. Agendas are used to record nightly homework in addition the agenda provides an excellent tool for parent/teacher communication. Please check your student's agenda daily. Edmodo is also an excellent place to check for homework or class reminders.
Over break is an excellent time for students to inventory their supplies and restock. We are finding some students are out of paper and/or pencils. If your child is in need of supplies, please let us know.
In the classroom we are using technology frequently. Students have the option of BYOT- Bring your Own Technology as well as school issued iPads and Chromebooks. BYOT is only allowed for students who have a signed permission slip on file. This year we will be introducing Google classroom and Google drive features. Each student has a Coweta School District issued google email account. Their internet and google account usage is monitored through the district and we stress the importance of using technology appropriate daily. BYOT is only allowed on designated days, otherwise student devices are expected to be in the off position throughout the school day,
In addition, students should have an Edmodo account to access class material, missing assignments and class announcements. This year we are encouraging all students to start logging into campus portal regularly to monitor their grades. Each student has an individual log in for campus portal and there is also an app available to make accessibility even easier.
Study Island is up and ready! Students were given their log in information for Study Island at the beginning of the week. Study Island a web based resource offers instruction, practice, assessment and reporting built from state standards. It also has Rigorous academic content that is both fun and engaging. Study Island is research-based with proven results for all students Easy to use (in the lab, classroom, library or home). As a team we will using Study Island throughout the year.
