Whitney Families-
Just a reminder that the last day of school is this Thursday, June 10th. Students will have online work to complete in the afternoon. Cohort A will receive report cards to take home with them on Tuesday, June 8th and Cohort B will receive report cards to take home on Thursday, June 10th.
You will receive a letter in the mail in August to notify you of who your child's teacher is for the 2021-22 school year. Please make sure your address is current. The first day of school is August 25th, and it will be a half day. At this time we are planning on a full return to school with all students. This district will continue to offer virtual learning through Edguinity only.
Thank you for allowing me to serve as your principal for the last five years. I am excited to pass the leadership baton along to my current assistant principal, Mr. Brandon Hunt. I am very excited to see where he will continue to take Whitney Elementary.
Please continue to watch our Facebook page (link below) as well as our Whitney web page at ysd7.org/Whitney, for regular updates about what is happening at Whitney.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Newell and Mr. Hunt

Summer Reading & Opportunity to Earn Prizes
Students can to get started online here: https://www.washington.edu/realdawgsread/
Code: dawgreader (all lower case)
Once inside this site, the instructions will guide the student on how to proceed. Basically, the student downloads the reading journal as an interactive pdf FIRST. They record their reading by typing directly into the pdf or they can print it and fill it out by hand. Either way, once the journal is complete, it must be emailed to us and then the student returns to our site to fill out a form for their reward. **Make sure they save the code because they will need to use it TWICE.**
