Week of January 11-15
eLearning Day: Today (Wednesday) is our weekly eLearning Day. All students (remote and traditional) should complete assignments online for each of their classes.
Hybrid Learning Schedule: Traditional students with last names beginning with L-Z will attend school on Thursday and Friday.
Final Exams: All students will last names L-Z (remote and traditional) will take final exams on Thursday and Friday (January 14-15). The only exception to this will be yearlong CP and AP classes that are in 2nd or 3rd blocks. Exams for each class will be given during the actual class time. Remote students will take exams online from home during the actual class time, while traditional students will take exams at school.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Huntsville Alumnae Chapter Scholarship Applications
The Huntsville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is currently accepting applications for the Huntsville Alumnae Chapter Tuition Scholarships. These scholarships are available to African American high school seniors attending any public or private high school within Huntsville City, Madison City, or Madison County. The applicant must plan to attend a fully accredited college or university in the Continental United States as a full-time student. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement (GPA 3.0 or above) and are for tuition and/or fees.
Scholarship applications are available on our website at www.dsthuntsville.org. For questions, please send an email to the scholarship committee at dsthsvscholar@gmail.com. We are pleased to offer these awards to deserving high school students!
*All applications and required documents must be submitted by January 20, 2021. Applications postmarked after this date will not be considered.

For more information and to download a PHYSICAL EXAM FORM, log on to www.visittoc.com, search under "Patients" for the selection on "Forms and Policies". Scroll to the bottom and download the most current (2018) physical exam form. Fill out the front and bring it with you on the 16th.

Current Announcements
Hybrid Learning Extended: MCSS has made the decision to continue with Hybrid Learning through at least January 29th. The goal is to return to traditional learning on February 1st, but the situation will be evaluated at that time.
*Traditional students with last names beginning with A-K will attend school on Mondays and Tuesdays. Traditional students with last names beginning with L-Z will attend school on Thursdays and Fridays. Wednesdays are eLearning Days, so ALL students will complete assignments online from home on Wednesdays.
Delta Sigma Theta's 42nd Annual Honors Convocation: Students who earned A’s and B’s for the fall semester are eligible to apply for Delta Sigma Theta’s 42nd Annual Honors Convocation. The application deadline is February 4th, and the virtual Honors Convocation is scheduled for March 7, 2021, at 3 p.m. Apply online at www.dsthuntsville.org.
Spring Semester/3rd 9 Weeks: The second semester (3rd 9 weeks) begins on January 19th. This means that students are still on their current mode of learning (remote or traditional) and still have the same class schedule. On Tuesday, January 19, students will change to their newly selected mode of learning (if they chose to make a change via the survey) and will continue with this mode of learning for the rest of this school year. Students will begin their classes for the 3rd 9 weeks on January 19th.

Permanent Announcements
Online Application for Free/Reduced Meals: Online free and reduced meal applications are available at the link below for a faster, more confidential way to apply. A new application must be completed each school year to qualify for free or reduced meals. Your child's eligibility status carries over to the new school year for the first 30 school days, allowing parents time to re-apply. Only one application per household should be submitted, and everyone living in the house must be included on the application.

HGHS Check-Out Procedures:
- Students drop check-out notes in the basket on the attendance clerk’s desk before 8:30 in the morning.
- Notes will be verified by the attendance clerk prior to the time of check-out.
- Check-out notes need the following information:
- Student’s first and last name (printed)
- Time of check-out
- Reason for check-out
- Parent’s signature
- Parent’s contact information
Without a parent note, no student will be allowed to check out unless a parent/guardian comes to the Attendance Office to check out the student. Parent notes must be turned in to the Attendance Office before 8:30 a.m. No phone checkouts will be allowed. The only exception will be if the school nurse determines that a student is sick and needs to go home. The school nurse will then contact the parent/guardian and the Attendance Office.
*Please go to door #44 at the back of the school (near the Trojan statue and courtyard) for all check outs. No check outs are done through the front office.
