Dear Parents and Families,
This is Student-Led Conference week. We have adopted a new benchmarking tool called Fast Bridge to help your child’s teacher understand each students’ areas of strength and areas for growth. Your child is creating goals for the year based on their Fast Bridge data, along with their scores on their first math and reading assessments. These goals will be shared with you at your child’s conference. We trust that your time with your child and his/her teacher will be helpful to understand what will be learned this year.
Please be sure to complete the Parent Survey at the computer stations in the hall on the laptops. We know it takes a few minutes of your time, but the information you provide to us helps us in our planning and programs.
I look forward to seeing you at Midland this week!
~Mrs. Dawson

Regular School Attendance: What you can do!
• Set a regular bed time and morning routine.
• Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
• Don’t let your child stay home unless he/she is truly sick. Keep in mind complaints of a stomach ache or headache can be a sign of anxiety and not a reason to stay home.
• If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to make him/her feel comfortable and excited about learning.
• Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent.
• Avoid medical appointments and extended trips when school is in session.
