PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Missing school -- Teaching and learning look different in schools today than what we remember when we were kids. Learning is more student focused. Learning is designed so that students are talking and working with one another and the teacher is there to facilitate the learning. When students are missing, it is very difficult to make up this learning as they have missed the experience and work done with other students. Teachers are not able to make a copy of that experience and work achieved for a homework assignment to send home.
We do understand the importance of family time like vacations and specials days to bond but we do ask that families be conscious of this different teaching and learning format. Talk with your child's teacher as there may be a day during the week that it is a bit easier to miss due to the content being taught. If there is not flexibility when your child will need to miss school, we understand.
Please communicate with your child's teacher as soon as you can if you know about a planned absence. Thanks for your help with this. Reach out if you have any questions.
Thanks for all you do to help us. Please contact the office if you are in need of anything.

Collection of Chromebook Chargers
Please send the charger back with your child on Friday.
Notes from the Office
Extra Clothing: We are in need of boys pants size 5-6, 6-7, 8-10, for those times when students get wet outside. This past week was a challenge and we simply do not have spare clothes in those sizes. If your children are growing out of their clothes and you would like to donate pants as "extras" we'd be happy to keep them on hand for emergency times. We are good on other sizes and have plenty of shirts. Just really in need pants. Thank you in advance!
Shoes: Please remember that closed toe shoes are needed for recess for safety reasons. No flip flops or sandals should be worn. Thanks
Open Enrollment Window closes on April 30th! This year’s Open Enrollment application period will take place between February 1st and April 30th. The Wisconsin Open Enrollment program allows children to attend public school in a school district other than the one in which they live. Early and late applications will not be accepted. Parents may apply online at https://dpi.wi.gov/oe If you do not have access to a computer, call or stop in at the district office.
If your child is currently attending under Open Enrollment, it is not necessary to complete an application form; your child will remain an active student through 12th grade.

Time for a little Laughter:
Why couldn't the pony sing a lullabye?
.....Because he was a little horse.
Summer School
Summer School Registration is now open and classes are filling up fast. Transportation registration is scheduled online through Skyward. Bussing is not a door-to-door service, instead stops are made at selected intersections and landmarks. In order for students to ride the bus, parents will need to schedule the pick up point/drop off point in Skyward/Family access. This should be done at the same time that you are signing up for classes.
Registration will remain open until May 14th. Parents can make changes - add or drop classes up until May 14th. Registration closes on May 14th at 6:00 PM. After registration closes, fees will be assigned. Fees can be paid online through RevTrac or by check.
For directions on how to register please click on the attached link . If you have issues with signing up, you can call the office at 920-826-5819.
Library News
It has been a very crazy year for libraries with the many COVID precautions and not being able to see our students in the school libraries. We have had success though in getting materials out to our students using the online library catalog for choosing items. We want to thank everyone for adjusting to this new arrangement and for returning materials in a timely manner. To assist families in knowing what students have checked out, we will be starting to send out weekly overdue notices to parents and guardians through email. These emails will have the cost of items in case any payments need to be made for materials not returned at the end of the school year. The date to return all materials is May 21st. And, if your child is missing items and a financial hardship exists, please contact me at: penelope.stuiber@of-ps.org or contact your school library during school hours.
And, just a reminder...all of the ebooks and audiobooks that students have been able to access during the school year are STILL available for use using their same school login from Classlink using a personal device.
