HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 1 Week 7 - 16 March
FROM MARK:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We wish all Dad and Kids a wonderful camp out on the oval this weekend. Nathan Byrne is again coordinating the event which no doubt will be memorable for all the right reasons!
Also this weekend, our staff involved with three year old Kindy through to Year Two students, together with several members of the Siena team, are attending an on-site workshop, the purpose of which is to learn more together of the Walker Learning approach. This early childhood professional development opportunity, presented by an expert in this approach, is an exciting one, and will give our junior primary and Siena staff involved the opportunity to determine what of this approach has merit in our context. As it is a hands on workshop which will utilise the Kindy and Preprimary playgrounds, I would ask that dads ensure that children do not use those playgrounds on Saturday before 3pm.
Everyone who attended Friday’s Sundowner – and there were loads of us who did – had a great time! Michelle Della Franca’s idea to stage it in the Dominican playground was an inspired one which kept everyone together. Congratulations to HRC President Mark Nolan, Michelle and everyone who set up, cooked, cleaned up on what was a hugely successful community event, and posted it on Facebook that same night. Our grateful thanks to you for making it happen.
Last Sunday’s Blessing of the priory and parish centre of Our Lady of the Rosary went very very well, with seven Dominican priests in attendance including Father David, and Father Peter Nguyen, immediate past Parish Priests. A big number of people were there, and our choir provided entertainment which was fantastic! Thank you to our Music specialist teacher Michelle Kirwan who had the children very well prepared, to the children themselves (see the photo) who sounded fabulous, and to their parents who got them there for the ceremony. To Father Peter and Parish administrator Kaye Shervington, congratulations! It was a very special day in the life of the community.
We hope to see you at the assembly next week led by our Year Three Catherine gang!
Have a great weekend

Student Leadership at our school is rich and diverse, and much valued by both students and staff. I would like to congratulate Ursula Finneran and Michael Ellis who are our Leading Altar Servers for 2018. They lead by example, and will roster our other altar servers to assist at school and class masses. They will do a fine job of supporting Father Peter and Father Chinh. Thank you Peter and Ursula!

PARISH NEWS
FAQ is Back !
What’s with the new sign in process at reception?
- We want to ensure that all adults on site are registered. This is about safety and security. The electronic sign-in provides a clear sticker (which includes your photo) for display. It is more convenient than the old visitor badge, and provides much more information. Signing off on the code of conduct, is part of the process. There are a few details to complete the first time you use it, but then it remembers you and makes the next time quicker.
Will the times for our crosswalk attendant Brendan change to match the school’s new closing time?
- Yes, Brendan will be starting earlier as soon as he is permitted to by his employer. Many thanks to one of our parents for pointing out the need for this change.
Why are our school swimming trials and the school carnival held in different terms?
- Challenge Stadium policy is to allocate only one day per school in term one because of demand.
Will we have 3 Year Old Kindy in 2019?
- YOU BET!
