Please Complete our School/Family Learning Compact!
Every year we send home a learning compact that explains some expectations that we have for students, parents, and that families should have for Carver. We asked that a grown up, and the student sign the compact before it is returned to school. Once returned, the classroom teacher signs it and a copy is provided to the student. Below, you will find a link to fill out a digital version of our Compact. During this unusual time of learning, it is very important that we are all on the same page and have open lines of communication. We would appreciate it if you would take just a few minutes to read and complete our School/Family Learning Compact. Thank you!
Please view this brief video which provides general information for families regarding COVID-19 protocols.
TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION!!!
Students must have a consistent transportation routine each day. To be compliant with CDC social distancing guidelines we must have an accurate account of the number of students utilizing parent pick-up and riding buses. We will not be able to honor last minute requests to changes in transportation, and bus passes will not be issued. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
Students MUST wear masks while on the bus. A student may be denied transportation for not having or refusing to wear a mask.

Reminders about Device use:
Grown-ups- Please remember that SMCPS devices are to be used for school purposes only. They are not personal devices. Please do not use them for taking personal pictures or videos. In addition, the only extensions that should be downloaded on laptops are Kami and Google Read and Write, as they are needed for assignments. All other extensions will be removed. Do your best to help your student take care of their device. When it is not being used for school, have them keep it somewhere safe to help avoid any damage. Thank you for your understanding in following these SMCPS device expectations.

Carver Eagles Soar!
Students have been working so hard in class. It is great to see them flourishing and enjoying time with their peers. It is hard to believe that 4th quarter is quickly approaching and these kiddos will be headed to the next grade. We hope that the grown ups are as proud of their students as we are. They have overcome some great obstacles this year and have still shown that they can soar.
LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
During these unique times with online learning, please be aware of background noise and disruptions while your child is participating in synchronous live Google Meets. These disruptions not only impact your child's learning but also impacts the learning of others during Google Meets. Thank you for your help with this.
Parents - Please utilize teachers’ Office Hours to ask questions and get clarification. Please avoid using Live Google Meets to communicate with parents; instructional time is limited and teachers need to use that time to focus on students’ instructional needs.
Attendance
Did you know that missing 9 or more days of school sets a student up to be at risk for academic achievement? Missing one day each month of school may not seem like a lot, but it equals 9 days! Attendance matters whether students are in a virtual classroom or the school classroom. Please make sure your students are attending all virtual instruction times including Google Meets, small group, and one on one meetings with their teachers. We want all our students on a path of excellent academic achievement!
