Last week, we reviewed the current universal systems and procedures in place for all of our students and staff. A few other Tier 1 system practices that we have in place are: the student survey, team time (to problem-solve student issues), and the use of processing sheets. When we think of building a successful Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), we have opportunities to improve our Tier 1 by reviewing and explicitly teaching our expectations on a more consistent basis. Dan and I would like to utilize the lunch periods, after Thanksgiving break, to discuss universal expectations. We would like to get staff feedback before deciding which expectations to review. During team time this week, please share concerns that you would like us to address. The only trend our current data reveals is that Ss receive the most processing sheets while in the cafeteria or other unstructured places, such as the hallway, or outside before school.
An administrative review of expectations with Ss is one component of a strong MTSS/PBIS disciplinary system. What are some other ways to strengthen our Tier 1 behavioral expectations?
We will conduct the expectation reviews during lunch on Monday, December 2nd.
