CALVIN PARK UPDATE
Week of January 18-22, 2021
We continue to be grateful for your support of learning at home - we know that this is not easy and that everyone is doing the best we can under these circumstances! We are here to support you so please reach out to your child's teacher or the office if needed. This week, we are continuing with learning at home, however, the provincial government has indicated that they will make an announcement this Wednesday, January 20th, about whether students will return to in-school learning next week. We will keep you informed with next steps once this announcement has been made.
We are very appreciative of the leadership of KFLA Public Health and all the members of our local community for working together in order to keep Covid cases in our area relatively low. We encourage everyone to continue to follow all health protocols during this lockdown period. If your family needs assistance with food/clothing and/or access to mental health resources, please reach out to our office. We are here to help.
Please stay healthy and take care,
Elizabeth Suriyuth, Principal
Wilma Pettingill, Vice-Principal

This participation can take many forms, for example, students who participate in a class online meeting, submit online work to their teacher, or emailed their teacher to ask a question.
- If your child is ill or has an appointment and will not be engaging in remote learning that day, please enter their absence as usual, by calling the SafeArrival number or using the app. If you haven't recorded their absence in SafeArrival, you will receive an automated call between 2:00-3:00 pm if your child did not engage in remote learning that day.
GRADE 8 - 9 TRANSITION INFORMATION
Last week, our Grade 8 students were guided through course selection and registration using the online tool, "MyBlueprint". Students and families can login to MyBlueprint account to review their course choices. MyBlueprint also has many additional resources to help students decide about their future educational goals, careers, etc.

Request for Expressions of Interest for Indigenous SAC Representative Position
The Calvin Park School Council wants to reflect our school community and the perspectives and voices of the people within it. To open the door for more diversity on the executive, and around the council table, a position for an Indigenous SAC Representative is available.
· BYLAW reference:
8(H). INDIGENOUS FAMILY REPRESENTATIVE
This representative will ideally bring Indigenous teachings, perspectives and voice to the School Advisory Council (SAC) table, to assist all families and staff to collaboratively work toward a renewed nation-to-nation relationship with Indigenous peoples based on recognition of rights, respect, co-operation and partnership. This representative will be asked to represent and celebrate the richness of Indigenous cultures and diversity of the Indigenous presence in our community.
Please let us know if you are an Indigenous parent/guardian/grandparent of an Indigenous student interested in this position. Please email or call the school with your interest, or with any questions you may have, and your contact information will be passed on to the School Council Co-Chairs.
