Counselor Connection
It has been a great start to the school year. We have been busy talking about responsibilities and learning different strategies when we turn into a “Crankenstein”. Looking forward we will be discussing empathy and inclusion in the classroom, sharing strategies, and implementing some fun activities.
As we approach the topics of empathy and inclusion, we are also working on a presentation to share with our school on 12/2/22 for World Disability Day (Saturday December 3rd). The activity involves sharing pictures and videos of our loved ones who may have unique differences, special needs, or are differently abled. We want to give our students and school community a chance to share an individual who has unique differences with their school family to encourage unity and bringing awareness to individuals with disabilities.
If there is an individual in your family, and you would be comfortable sharing, please email a picture or video to Vanessa.McBride@Carteretk12.org. Please know and understand this presentation is about raising awareness of disabilities and celebrating our differences to promote inclusion and unity. We will only include volunteered information from those interested in sharing and who want to participate. We will not be posting any students or family members we don’t hear from. If you have questions, or concerns about confidentiality, or the use of this information, please, call me directly (252)393-3990 ext.352107. Your family’s privacy is important to us at WOES. Thank you, for helping our community become a more inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities.
