Message from Mr. Hanzeli
Hello Elger Bay Families!
Welcome to March! Between a few heavy winds, quick snow storm, and pretty good dose of rain squalls, I think I actually felt the sun on my face a few times :-) Hang in there everyone!
Let me give just a quick preview to a few things you will see below:
Picture Retakes and Makeups
Firefly Studios will be her on Tuesday and Thursday of this coming week. Check out the link below to all the information.
EBE PTA Krispy Kreme Fundraiser
Our PTA is doing what they hope is a low key, low pressure fundraiser of these delicious treats. Order forms coming home this week.
Read Across America Calendar
We are going to give away the two bicycles that were donated last Spring by the Masons. Please be sure to sign your child's reading calendar each night they meet the challenge and let your teacher know if they do not bring their copy home in the next couple of days.
Character Strong March Focus: RESPECT
This trait is one that our teachers will weave into their class focus over the month of March.
Transportation Positions Posted
Our district is in need of qualified bus drivers and they are seeking applicants.
Updated District Mask Policy (repeated from SCSD Friday Family Message, 2.19.21)
New variants of coronavirus have been verified in Snohomish County. The CDC recommends double layers for all masks. After careful consideration, conversations with our local health districts, district nurses, and with guidance from the CDC, students and staff may no longer use gaiters as a cloth face covering. The new variants of the coronavirus are more easily transmitted. This change will provide additional protection to all people on our campuses.

SCSD Friday Family Message, 2.26.21 (Repeat)
Good afternoon Families!
The month of February has flown by. We’ve added 4th-8th graders to a hybrid schedule and are loving seeing them in our buildings. Thank you to everyone for following all of the safety guidelines.
The district has opened kindergarten registration for the 2021-22 school year. Please check your school’s website for information.
COVID-19 Student Survey
The secondary schools in our district will participate in the COVID-19 Student Survey in order to gather data about our students and support needed as they re-enter in-person learning. More information from OSPI about the survey is below:
The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), Washington State Department of Health (DOH), Health Care Authority (HCA) and a team at the University of Washington (UW) have made the “COVID-19 Student Survey” available for schools to administer this spring.
In an effort to support schools and communities, state agencies partnered to support this effort to collect information about young people’s experiences over this past year during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The survey is anonymous, voluntary, and for students in grades 6 through 12.
Topics on the survey include but are not limited to social support, remote learning experiences, mental health, physical health, COVID-19 precautions, and substance use.
The survey will be scheduled sometime between March 8-March 26.
Paper forms will be sent home with hybrid students this week. Distance families that would like to participate will need to print a copy of the form. There is contact information on the form.
Character Strong Trait of the Month: RESPECT
Here are the Character Strong Family Letters for K-2 and G3-G5, RESPECT. We always hope that these are wonderful conversation starter for our families. Thanks for taking the time to look them over.
Linked here is the form for signing off each fun day that your child meets the reading challenge. Check it out for some really fun ideas.
