Husky Highlights
Welcome Back!
Welcome back and Happy New Year! Our first week of 2021 has been exceptional. The two remote days really assisted us in catching up with families who may have traveled or been affected by COVID over the winter break. I heard many positive things from both staff and families about the two remote days. The remainder of the week has flown by and we continue to hold our breaths in hopes that we can continue to do so well. Have a wonderful weekend! Please find some important updates below.
PBIS Theme - January
This month our PBIS theme is empathy. Our students are watching videos related to empathy during our weekly PBIS meeting. This week I launched the theme with students with a brief presentation and also recognized students who received a Husky Hero Spotlight Award for the month of December. We are very proud of those students who have exemplified the character traits of kindness and gratitude that were the focus before the winter break. Students are also reading books about empathy during their book exchange time and completing related activities. As part of teaching empathy we will participate as a school in collecting items to donate to the Connecticut Humane Society. Please find the attached flier with details about how your child can participate.
COVID Reminders
Parent Drop Off/Pick Up
For the safety of everyone please remember to wear a mask when you are dropping off and picking up your child. Our staff needs to communicate with parents at times and we also know that parents sometimes need to assist their child getting in or out of the vehicle. We appreciate your consideration for everyone's safety.
Remote Learning
We understand that some families are making the choice to be remote for an additional week or more. If that is the case you have to fill out the paperwork to switch to remote learning. We cannot accommodate spur of the moment changes. One of the major reasons this is necessary is that when we contact trace we need to have accurate student data and they need to be properly labeled in our system. If your child was quarantined by the district, you do not have to fill out the form. Thank you for your cooperation with this, and to assist you I am attaching the form to fill out. It is also available on our district website.
