Sight Word Homework!
Ideas: Make their learning multi-sensory (most efficient way to retain information) by taking them to the sandpit to write their words. Don't have a sandpit in the backyard? Carrier Park has a sand volleyball court perfect for the task!
A Look at Our Week
Last week was fantastic! On Friday we had our PBIS assembly, to celebrate all the student accomplishments over the past month. The 5th graders showcased their self-made drums, and their learning from the previous week due to an Arts grant, with an astounding performance that had us dancing in our seats! We've also watched a Brass Symphony recently too, Claxton's music scene is on fire! I'll be bringing my guitar, and my musical props into the classroom for sure this week!
I'm continuing to love watching your children grow as readers! It's such a treat to watch their faces as their confidence grows. We will continue to work on sight words, and digraphs (2 letters that make one sound i.e. -ck) this week. Keep reading with them at home!
In Math, we are studying the teen numbers closely. During Writer's Workshop, we are still working on opinion writing.
In other news, our sugar snap peas are growing. The children are observing and watering them often, and have just planted some flowers in another neglected bed in the small playground. Science is hands-on in our classroom!
I'm excited to see what this week brings, and of course to see all of your childrens' faces on Monday morning. Thanks for being such wonderful parents!
