NISD and Seven Hills Exemplar Educator Nominations Open:
It is time again to take nominations from students, parents, teachers and community members for the 2019 - 2020 Seven Hills Exemplar Educator. Please copy and paste in your browser the links below to review and download the nomination form and criteria. Paper nomination forms will be available in the front office. Please send either your paper nomination form to the Seven Hills front office or the fillable PDF form via email to Mrs. Blackburn at kblackburn@nisdtx.org by Monday, December 9.
The nominees will complete an Exemplar Educator application that is then scored by a committee using a rubric. Announcement of the Seven Hills Exemplar Educator takes place in the Spring of 2020.
Being named an Exemplar Educator is quite an honor for a teacher and puts him or her in the running to be the district Exemplar Educator. Thank you for taking the time to honor an educator who has made a difference!

7 Habits at Home...An Opportunity to Learn and Grow Together:
Our school is proud to teach the 7 Habits of Happy Kids to students every year as part of our work to empower learners to be leaders! We believe all students have important strengths to share and we will be learning ways to develop those strengths and skills through a study of different leadership characteristics throughout the year. Each week, we have a Habit of focus in our school and in the classroom. During Habit Huddle and in guidance lessons, we teach the Habit to students. Sometimes the students teach the Habit to each other!
Our goal is to extend the learning to parents by offering opportunities to practice using the 7 Habits at home. Each week, students will bring home activities to be completed as a family. At the end of the activity set is a reflection sheet. When your family returns the reflection sheet indicating that you completed the Habit Activity Pack, you will receive a special recognition on the Habit Boards of Honor in the Cafeteria! You only need to return the reflection sheet...some of the activity pages you will probably want to keep and even hang of your refrigerator as a reminder for everyone to see!
We hope you enjoy learning with and through your leaders! Happy habiting!
Habit 3: Put First Things First
Habit 4: Think Win-Win

- The doors to the school will open at 7:20 a.m., and students may go either to the cafeteria to eat breakfast or to their classrooms to begin their day. To ensure student safety, please do not drop students off at school before the doors open at 7:20.
- Our school day begins promptly at 7:40 a.m. Students are expected to be present in their classrooms and ready to begin “Habit Huddle” when the 7:40 tardy bell rings. Any student who is not in their classroom, or arrives after the tardy bell, will be counted tardy. Please encourage your child to be proactive and arrive at school on time.
- The safety and security of students, staff, and visitors is a priority. All visitors must sign-in with the front office using the Raptor system to receive a visitor badge. Any visitor without a badge will be redirected to the front office. All new guests will need to scan their ID the first time they visit this year. We appreciate your patience and understanding with this safety measure.
- Please contact the school office if your child will be absent from school. This helps us verify our overall attendance for the day and properly account for all students. When your child returns to school after an absence, please be sure to send a note explaining the reason for the absence.
