Thank you student council for planning a great Spirit Week! We had a lot of fun with our daily themes!
Congratulation to both our basketball teams on a great season! At this time, it looks like our boys' team will be in the playoffs. Once the other teams in out conference complete thier games we will know more about when and where we are playing.
Our 8th grade students who are rolling up to JL Mann have the opportunity to tour the school Thursday. Permission slips needed to be returned in order for students to attend.
On Tuesday, there is a Free Rice Lunch n Learn, organized by Mrs. Medlin. This is a great way for students to earn community service hours and serve their community. Students are able to sign up through adviosry.
Join us Tuesday night at 6:30 for our drama one act plays.
This Friday will be Fabulous Friday!

Planning for International Day
Dear Beck Academy Students and Parents,
Planning for this year’s International Day to be held March 15, 2023 is underway! This year, our focus will be on countries from Asia and Oceania. Does your family hail from a country in one of these regions? If so, we are looking for members from our school family to help us make our day a success. In the past, student and parent volunteers have set up table displays and exampled different aspects of their families’ cultures. Some examples of what might be included in a display (but not limited to):
- · Name of Country
- · Artifacts: Flags, artwork, toys, clothing, anything representative of the country
- · Cultural Connections: Examples/displays/demonstrations of traditional dress, music, dance, art, architecture, religion, etc.
·
Samples: Do you have a favorite snack food, treat, or trinket from your home country you think our students might like to experience?
We really welcome any input you might provide and lean on our school family members to help us make this day an interesting, informative, great day of learning for our students! Thank you in advance for your willingness to support this awesome Beck tradition!
Questions? Please contact Kristin Medlin, Beck Magnet Coordinator, at klmedlin@greenville.k12.sc.us or at (864) 355-1423.
Sexual Health and Responsibility Education
Dear Beck Academy parents and caregivers,
We would like to bring to your attention that our Sexual Health and Responsibility Education Unit will begin starting Tuesday, February 21st by the PE department to students currently enrolled in PE. A general overview and outline of the district’s age appropriate,abstinence-based sexual health & responsibility education curriculum can be viewed on the district website under the Students & Parents Heading then scrolling to the Comprehensive Health & Physical Education link or by clicking HERE. You can also preview a hard copy of the materials in the front office by request. Sex Ed. is a required unit by state law (CHE Act). Students that have an *APPROVED WAIVER (completed by school counselor) due to a scheduling conflict are still required to participate in the 6-7-day Sexual Health & Responsibility Unit (unless their parents choose to exempt them). Exemptions are only accepted when the program conflicts with the family's beliefs or the curriculum is not age-appropriate for a student with special needs (this should be determined by the parents and special ed. teacher). Please let us know if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
Sincerely,
Beck Academy Physical Education Department
Don't Miss Out On Getting Your Yearbook
February 24th – Last Chance to guarantee a yearbook. What does that mean? That’s just what we tell parents to motivate them to order before we have to give the plant our “magic number”. We will continue to sell non-personalized yearbooks online after this date until we get closer to selling out.
March 1st – The date we turn in the number of copies we will be ordering for this year (the magic number). I’ll be in touch later in February to discuss this number.
