On February 12 during Community, students will begin the forecasting process for the 2020-21 school year. Students will receive updated transcripts, forecasting forms, and instructions on how to enter their course selections in the online forecasting portal. The online forecasting portal only works with a computer or Chromebook and will not work on a mobile device. After this session, students should review the online Academic Planning Guide found on the Westview website under Academics>>Academic Planning and work with their families, counselors, and teachers to choose their courses. Once their paper forecasting form is completed, students can complete the online forecasting process and choose their first and alternate courses. The due date for online forecasting is February 26, 2020.

February 20, 2020 is Curriculum Night at Westview. It is a great time to visit with teachers about course options. [Put details or links here about Curriculum Night]

On February 26, the paper forecasting forms are turned in and students complete their online forecasting in Community class. It will be important for students to bring their charged Chromebooks/computers to this class to complete the forecasting process.

Students are expected to enroll in and complete the classes selected during the forecasting season. Staffing and the Master Schedule are determined by the courses students select during forecasting. Therefore, after February 26, 2020, students will not be able to request changes to their course selections.

Career and Technical Options Fair Merlo Station High School, March 11th, 2020 6-7:30pm. Explore gratifying high demand careers requiring 1-2 years of post high school education or on-the-job-training.

Harrington Family Foundation Scholarships The Oregon Leadership Scholarship is a four-year renewable scholarship-mentorship program. $16,000 per student. Four will be selected in 2020. Must show involvement in volunteerism and financial need. Available only to seniors in Oregon. Due March 6th. Harringtonfamilyfoundation.org

Tuality Healthcare Foundation Scholarships $1,700 up to $2,7000, pursuing a career in health-related field, 2 or 4 year college, 3.5 GPA, score for SAT of 1,000 or ACT 19 or better, taken classes related to a health career, extracurricular activities. Only open to 12 area public and private high schools. Tualityfoundation.org for further details and application. Due March 20th.

Washington County Sheriff Mounted Posse Scholarship. $500, past or current involvement in 4-H, FFA, OHSET, animal husbandry, or public safety. Must provide family financial contribution to applicant’s education, 3 letters of reference, GPA 2.5 or higher. Only available to seniors in Washington county. Pick up an application in the CCC.

Fred G. Lee Memorial Scholarship and/or David Quan Memorial Scholarship. 3.5 GPA or higher, be active in school and community activities, US Citizen or hold permanent resident status, be a member of graduating class of an Oregon county or Clark county. One scholarship will be awarded for a student who has volunteered in a healthcare or medical setting and intends to major in the medical health field. Dear Westview Community,

I have enjoyed serving as your PTO President for the past six years. At the end of the school year my youngest graduates! This means we are truly in need of volunteers to join the PTO in leadership positions. We currently have all positions open except President, Secretary and Treasurer. Please read through our descriptions of the various jobs we have available. If you’ve always wanted to do something to help out the school without having to be on campus during the school day, we have opportunities for you! None of these are a large task, individually – but when just three parents are handling all of these alone, it is a lot.

We are looking to fill all of these open positions. If you would like to join us in supporting Westview staff, students, clubs, sports and activities, please read through the attached job descriptions. Then join the Executive Board for our meeting on Wednesday, December 15 , at 6 o’clock PM in the Career Center at Westview, if you would be interested in any of these positions. The General PTO meeting will follow immediately after at 6:30 PM. We always do the meetings back-to-back on the third Wednesday of each month throughout the school year. There are no meetings in December or June.

We expect to vote on adding a Communications Person at this meeting, as multiple people have expressed interest in this job. All other positions are completely open so please come join us, ask questions, get support along the way, and enjoy doing something to help support our school and community!

Last spring, students in grades 3 – 8 and 11 in the Beaverton School District and throughout Oregon took the state tests (Smarter Balanced) in English Language Arts and Mathematics.

In addition to content standards, these assessments are designed to measure critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills. The test results provide you, our schools, our district and the state with information about how well we are preparing our students for their next steps including college and career readiness.

Our students will take these tests once between January and June 2020. House Bill 2655 permits parents and adult students to annually opt-out of Oregon’s statewide summative tests in English Language Arts and Math by submitting a form to the school the student attends. The school shall provide any student who is exempted from a state test with supervised study time while other students are testing.

• Each year the District surveys students, staff, and parents to gather information for planning, program evaluation, and assessment of progress on the District's Strategic Plan.

• The student survey takes about 20 minutes during the regular school day. The data gathered from the survey are anonymous; your child will not put his/her name or other identifying information on the survey. Like other surveys, results will be presented only about groups. No individual data will be reported.

• Student surveys of middle and high schools include three optional questions for students to identify their gender, ethnicity / race, and sexual orientation. These questions allow for additional levels of analysis of questions on inclusion, safety and bullying.

• Your child may skip questions or stop filling out the survey at any time. Refusing to participate or withdrawing from the survey does not affect your child's grades or class standing in any way. If you or your child does not want to participate, your child can read or do some other activity while his or her classmates complete the survey.
