What's Happening in GT LEAD Classes

5th Grade

We are working on SPARK Talks. SPARK stands for Speaking Passionately About Real world Knowledge. If you have ever seen a TED talk, the concept is the same. Students are looking for ways they can solve problems they see in the world around them. They will be researching and giving speeches on how to solve these problems. We will be the change we want to see in the world!

4th Grade

Rube Goldberg marble runs! Student groups will be building a Rube Goldberg style marble run that uses levers, wheels, and ramps. Teams will be competing for points. Points will be awarded for the number of seconds the marble is moving through the run, for moving parts on the run, for working creative/innovative ideas.

3rd Grade

We have been working on 3D Discoveries. Using brainstorming and creative thinking strategies each student built an original idea out of a given set of materials. Once their creation was built, students wrote an original story to go with their creation. For an extra challenge students were given the option to use alliteration in their stories.

2nd Grade

We are learning about the 6 parts of the brain! We have just started this unit, and we will be doing some research on this topic throughout the month of February.

1st Grade

We have just started an activity called "Code Your Partner." This activity allows students to work on their teamwork skills, while also practicing computational thinking (coding skills).
