Forest Grove Family Falcon Update
🟢 December 8, 2022 - December 16, 2022 🟢
Message from the Principal
Dear Forest Grove Families and Staff,
The good news is that based on the weather forecast for our Monday, Dec. 12 winter concert, PLAN A is in place. The weather forecast predicts a high of 53 and low of 39 with only a 20% chance of rain and winds between 7-9 mph. Please remember to park on the back parking lot. Cones will be set up to guide you to the PGHS stadium. The staff parking lot is reserved for staff only.
Follow the student drop off and pick up maps attached below and connect with the student's teacher if you have any questions.
Plan A: Monday, Dec. 12th at 6pm - Holiday Program at Pacific Grove High School's Breaker's Stadium (Corner of Sunset Drive and Congress Ave.). Several information sheets are below to provide families with information: where to park, student drop off locations, classroom sitting locations on the track, and pick up. There are other pictures to help you with locations of drop off and pick up from last year.
Plan B: Monday, Dec. 12th (Alternate Location if it rains) - Holiday programs at RHD starting with Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades at 5:00 P.M. and 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades at 6:30 PM. This will only occur if we have inclement weather. Due to small space, the audience members will be limited to parents/guardians. A zoom feed will be provided for other family members/friends to watch the program (It is uncertain whether a Zoom simulcast will be available at Breaker's Stadium).
Use this new email address created for FG parents: FGdeer@pgusd.org. When school is in session, the emails on this account will be checked daily. This is just one option. You can always drop by, call the office or email me directly, but we are looking to provide you with other options.
On the following pages, please find staff and grade level highlights and important information.

Christina Luciano - First Grade Teacher
Background & Education
I was born in Burlingame CA and lived in Davis until I was 5. I moved to Carmel Valley. I attended All Saints’ Day school and was Carmel high school graduating class of 2003. I moved to Santa Barbara and attended UCSB. I graduated with my BA in law and society in 2007. I attended Antioch university and received my multiple subject teaching credential and my education specialist credential. I began my career as a special education teacher in 2008 in Goleta. I worked as a Resource and SDC teacher for 7 years before moving to teach kindergarten.
I married my college sweetheart in 2010. My daughter Vanessa was born in 2014. My family returned to the peninsula in 2017. I began as a kindergarten teacher at Robert Down in 2017. My daughter Gabriella was born in 2019. I started working at FG in first grade in 2021. I live in Salinas with my family.
Interests
I love being outdoors, hiking, biking, etc. I love doing crafts and cooking. I love dancing and absolutely love to travel and experience different cultures.
Please share one favorite elementary school memory.
I will never forget in elementary school when my teacher Mrs. Cleary would have her mom Beverly Cleary come to read us the books she wrote like Ramona. Also one of my fondest memory is of my fourth grade teacher Mrs. Sullivan. She loved rainbows and exuded kindness.
What do you love about Forest Grove Elementary School?
My favorite thing about FG is absolutely my colleagues and the family community we have. I love going to work because I adore the people I work with. We all look out for one another and support and care about one another. The family aspect at FG is unmatched.
Thank you Mrs. Luciano; we appreciate you!
Grade Level Highlight
First Grade
Right now our first grade class is deep into the Cultural celebrations around the world. We are “traveling“ to different countries and learning all about the languages, cultures and holiday celebrations or traditions. The students have made suitcases (cereal boxes) and are using their passports to travel around the world to learn all about other cultures. Also in December students complete a cultural heritage doll representing their own cultural heritage and background. I love seeing and celebrating the diversity in my class.
Good luck and remember you will always be part of the Forest Grove Family!
Thank you and good luck! You will be missed.
Mrs. McCanney has supported the students at Forest Grove and Robert H. Down and is moving out of the area.
Thank you and good luck on your new job! We will miss you.
Mrs. Babas will continue working with our district and supporting FG during the transition period between jobs.
Dear Forest Grove families,
You still have time to participate in the parent version of our California Healthy Kids Survey.
The data we receive from this survey is an important measure of safety, learning supports, efforts to improve student achievement, and health risks that stand as barriers to learning.
Last year, we had 128 parents participate in the survey. So far this year, we have 50 parent responses. We sincerely thank those of you who have taken the time to complete the survey. Our goal is to exceed our 128 responses from last year.
The survey will close soon, so please devote 20 minutes of your time to provide this important information.
Here is the FG parent survey link .Thank you for helping us serve your student(s).
We appreciate you all,
