BWRSD Community Update 7/24/2020
Message from Jonathan Brice, Superintendent of Schools
Dear BWRSD parents and guardians,
As we continue to place the health and safety of our students and staff at the forefront of our decision making in regards to the reopening of schools, we are inviting our community to participate in upcoming meetings to ask questions regarding the reopening of schools and our Reopening Plan.
I will be presenting our reopening plan synopsis to the School Committee at our upcoming meeting on Monday, July 27th. This meeting will be virtual via Zoom Conferencing and information listed below in this update. We invite you to attend as we will have a question and answer session after the presentation. We also welcome you to submit questions prior to the meeting up until 3 P.M. on Monday to kathryn.brown@bwrsd.org. The submitted questions will be addressed during the question and answer session.
In addition, we have scheduled Virtual Town Hall Meetings with all six of our Parent Teacher Organizations/Parent Advisory Groups over the next two weeks. These meetings will be another opportunity for families to ask questions regarding our Reopening Plan to the building principal and myself. Please send your questions to your respective PTO/Parent Advisory Group in advance of the meeting.
As always, please contact me if you have any questions as we continue to work together for a successful reopening of schools this fall.
Sincerely Yours,
Jonathan Brice, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
Bristol Warren Regional School District

3. Reopening Plan Synopsis (Same plan sent out in BWRSD Community Update on 7/16/20)
A team of more than fifty (50) teachers, support staff, and administrators have developed a comprehensive reopening plan that is focused on the health and safety of students and staff, identification of options for families, ensuring a strong academic program, and addressing budgetary, staffing, and policy concerns. Here is a synopsis of the plan we have submitted to RIDE on July 17, 2020, and are awaiting feedback. Once we hear from RIDE, we will publish the entire plan and create work groups to discuss implementation.
4. Transportation Registration Form (Initial choice due 7/24; opportunity to revise choices no later than 8/7)
Please complete this Transportation Registration Form for the 2020-2021 school year.
5. Distance Learning Request Form (Initial choice due 7/24; opportunity to revise choices no later than 8/7)
As you are aware, we are working on creating our plan for reopening on August 31, 2020. In preparation for the full in-person model, we understand that there are families who are uncomfortable with having their student(s) return to in-person learning for health and other reasons. In order to accommodate our families and recognize this concern, we are offering a distance learning option.
** NOTE** Families that opt for a distance learning option will be doing so for the first quarter (middle/high school)/trimester (elementary).
Please complete this Distance Learning Request Form for ALL children in your family who will require distance learning for the 2020-2021 school year by Friday, July 24, 2020, so we are able to plan for appropriate staffing. There will be an opportunity to revise your choices no later than 8/7/20.
There is no form that you need to complete if you are comfortable sending your child(ren) to school for the full and/or hybrid in-person model.
