The Silver Lining

January 2016

I hope you and your families have enjoyed celebrating our Savior’s birth, as well as the New Year. Each new year brings about new beginnings, which brings opportunities to commit ourselves to reading our Bible more intently, attending church more regularly, and my least favorite, but most needed, exercise daily. As each of us have most likely pondered how we can improve ourselves or our families in the coming year, I am reminded of the most precious gift that we should give our children. Time. The gift of time in this world seems to get less and less. We are constantly on our iPads, computers, phones, and many other things that steal our time. Sitting in a room together with everyone on technology is not the kind of time I am speaking of. The kind of time I am speaking of is taking a walk with your child without your phone, looking at creation and conversing about the world around us, reading a book snuggled up in your favorite chair, or just taking the time to look into their innocent eyes and listen.

As some of you are considering Pre-K and Kindergarten, I offer some helpful hints. Although being prepared academically is a must, children must also be verbal enough to communicate his/her thoughts and needs, be enthusiastic about learning, and curious to try new activities. They must be able to share and take turns, as well as be nourished and rested. We here at SBP are committed to ensuring that your child is successful, whether transitioning from Infant/Toddlers to the Three Year Olds or moving on to Kindergarten from a Pre-K class, we consider it a privilege to give your children the gift of our time as they attend Preschool. Thank you for your prayers, support, and love and all the gifts you bestowed upon myself and our staff this Christmas season!
