Safety Drills
We do our best to keep the drills matter-of-fact and avoid any tone that would be stress-inducing. If you are worried about how your child may feel during a lock-down or any other drill, please connect with Mrs. Sullivan, our social worker. We have helped many students in the past with this. (csullivan@eastiron.org).
Please know, there is nothing to worry about if you hear your student talking about drills. You would hear from us directly if there were any real emergencies.
I would welcome a conversation about school safety if you'd like to connect. However, I am unable and would not share our emergency procedures publicly in order to maintain safety.
Types of Drills:
· Hold-in-place: used to limit movement within the school while supporting short-term emergencies
· Shelter-in-place: used to shelter all students and staff inside the building
· Evacuation: most commonly known as fire drills
· Lockout: used to secure the building during incidents that pose an imminent concern outside.
· Lockdown: used to secure the building during incidents that pose an immediate concern in or around the school.

Breakfast & Lunch Reminder:
Buying Lunch & Breakfast
Information about school nutrition, including menus and free and reduced lunch applications can be found on our school nutrition website. https://www.eastiron.org/page/school-nutrition
Please discuss with your child if they are buying lunch or breakfast each day.
Students are not turned away by the café staff if they ask for lunch or breakfast, and you may be charged, even if you haven’t set up an account.
If you would prefer your student not to buy breakfast/ lunch or only buy on certain days – please call the food service office, so they may put a note on your child’s account. You can always change this later or contact the school office for exceptions on special days.
585-339-1577 Breakfast: $1.65 Lunch: $2.80
