I can't believe March has already came and gone. I hope you all had a restful break and enjoyed your Easter time with your families. During the month of March I assisted students with finalizing their projects for the upcoming Technology Showcase. We had 537 entries for the showcase from all the campuses throughout the district. We are pleased with the entries of the participants for our first annual Technology Showcase. I hope you get a chance to attend the event on Thursday, April 14th at Travis Middle School. We will begin the showcase at 6:30pm. There will be awards for student participants and teacher have a chance to win a $50 HEB gift cards for their students contribution to the showcase. Thanks to all who encouraged your students to participate in this event.
I look forward to working with you in these last two months of school showing you and your students cool things they can do on the Chromebooks. If you haven't used the cart yet, I would like to encourage you to try it out with your class. I would be happy to come and assist you with working with your students. The classes I have had the pleasure of helping have all had positive experiences with using the chromebooks. The students are engaged and working on assignments related to their TEKS.
I found this clever tech tool last week while working with some students. We used Vocaroo to record their stories that they wrote for class. It was very user friendly and has various ways you can save the clip. You can even get a QR code if you want to add to the story. This would be a great tool to use with your students so they can create PodCast, mini news flashes, or simply record their stories like we did. If the students don't like their recording they can record again before saving the recording. The recordings can be saved in Google Drive so they can access it from anywhere on any device.
Don't forget about Kahoot. Your students will have a hoot playing Kahoot in class as a review for a test. I would be happy to show you how to create quizzes or use already created quizzes in Kahoot.
Have you used KidRex with your kids yet? if you are doing any kind of research project with your students this spring you may want to consider showing them this site. It will help them in their research to get quality information. This site was created by kids for kids so it is kid friendly to use.
