Volunteers Needed!

Second grade has a project we like to do before Presidents' Day since February is our month for the front hallway display case. We need a couple of volunteers from each classroom to help with some tracing and cutting for each child's silhouette. If you would be able to come up to school a few hours next week, please email me and let me know.
Thank you!

Themes in Fairy Tales

Last week we had a mini-project in class to help us discover common themes in fairy tales. After selecting one to write about and then comparing the elements we found in each, we found a few common themes. I thought some of you might enjoy seeing the word cloud we created to help us see the common themes. (Please excuse the "talkin". I promise the actual wordle says "talking"!)

Class Objectives for next Week

Math- 2-D figures

Writing- Expository Writing

Reading- Fairy Tales and Fables

Science- Motion

Social Studies- Local History and Landmarks

Winter Reminders

Please be sure to check the forecast each day to determine what type of coat to send with your child. We go to recess at 9:30 in the morning as long as the windchill is at or above 38 degrees. Often times the temperature at that time can be very different than the high for the day.

Please send your child with a coat with his/her name in it. We'd rather get lost coats back to the owners instead of taking them to the lost and found!

Classroom Wishlist

If you'd like to purchase items for our classroom, you can check out our Amazon Wishlist. After talking with students, I've added books they'd like to see in our classroom library as well as other items I know we will need throughout the year.
