Show Us Your Generation: A New York Times Photo Contest for Teenagers
In this contest, students are invited to take photographs that depict some aspect of teenage life that they think may be misunderstood, overlooked or largely unknown, and, in a short artist’s statement, say why. Link to New York Times contest calendar. Watch for updates closer to September!

John Lennon Songwriting Contest
The 2019 John Lennon Songwriting Contest Session II is now open. The deadline for entry is December 15, 2019. The John Lennon Songwriting Contest is open to amateur and professional songwriters who submit entries in any one of 12 categories (Rock, Country, Jazz, Pop, World, Rhythm & Blues, Hip Hop, Latin, Folk, Gospel/Inspirational, Electronic, and Children's). You don't need a professional recording. Entries will be judged on originality, melody, composition, and lyrics (when applicable). Instrumental compositions are encouraged. Check out the prizes here!
Letters About Literature
Letters About Literature is a reading and writing contest for students in grades 4-12. Students are asked to read a fiction or nonfiction book, book series, short story, poem, essay, or speech (excluding song lyrics) and write to the author (living or dead) about how the book affected them personally. Cash prizes up to $2000! Deadline is the second week of December.
Unfortunately, this contest has been cancelled for this year. (Updated on 9/4/19)
River of Words Art and Poetry Contest
Look around you. See how your environment shapes the way you live and how you think about the world. Then write a poem or create a piece of art on what you discover. River of Words is an international poetry and art contest for youth on the theme of Watersheds. The contest is designed to help youth explore the natural and cultural history of the place they live and to express themselves through poetry and art. The contest is open to any child in the world, 5-19 years of age. Entry deadline is December 1, 2019
Does your teen need a quiet place to study? Does your teen need tutoring after school?
Join us in the AnHS Library, after school, every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, starting August 27, 2019, from 2:35 to 4:00 pm. Students can get help in all subjects, use computers, printers, and calculators, and access Library Resources.
We can even provide documentation for the time the student attended. Just have them ask Mrs. Reynolds or Mrs. Gorkhali for an ALL attendance slip. We are ALL in for student learning and success here at Antelope High School.

1:1 Chromebook Roll-Out
All Freshmen and Seniors received Chromebooks and chargers on August 1-2, 2019.
Sophomores and Juniors have their already assigned Chromebooks from last year.
Optional Chromebook insurance coverage is available to purchase until September 8, 2019 without a device inspection. After that date, the Chromebook will need to be inspected prior to purchase. Forms and information can be found on the District website. Students can pay at Student Services on campus or online in the Webstore. The cost is $30 for one school year.
My Titan has not yet picked up their Chromebook!
If your Titan has not yet picked up their Chromebook, please have them do so ASAP. They will need to make sure data confirmation (Technology Acceptable Use Policy) is signed off on and complete in Homelink before doing so. They can pick up their Chromebook in the Library before school, at lunch, or after school. This also applies to all new students, grades 9-12.
Chromebook Expectations
Please remind your favorite Titan of these expectations outlined in their class syllabi. You can find more information about Chromebooks and digital equity on the Library webpage or the District webpage. Thank you for supporting your favorite Titan in being a great digital citizen!
Bring your Chromebook (CB) everyday, charged and ready to go!
If you bring your charger to school, charge at an appropriate time.
Take care of your Chromebook and follow all District guidelines
Loss or damage is your responsibility
Use your Chromebook appropriately in class
Only use CB when asked to by an instructor, share if necessary
Unless given permission, only use your assigned CB.
Stay on task! Only browse, game, chat or message if it’s part of the class lesson
Regularly participate, check and post on Google Classroom
Only post or access content, images, and sites that are school appropriate
Think before you post! No cyberbullying, no inappropriate language or racist terms
Chromebooks are monitored 24/7 and any inappropriate use will be forwarded on to admin and counselors

Search for books from home using our OPAC. Place a hold on your favorite titles. Pick up your requested book(s) at the Library Circulation Desk.

Sacramento Bee Electronic Resources
Need to find current articles in English or Spanish? Visit the Sacramento Bee News in Education website and log in as a student using the AnHS Class ID #2843 and password lewis found on our Library website under electronic resources. Once you log in as a student select "Read Today's Paper" to choose The Sacramento Bee or El Nuevo Herald. You can also access many other student resources on their website.
