What is a wedge?
A wedge is a simple machine that is used to pry or splits something in half, applying equil amounts of force on both sides of the object.
Examles of wedges:
Knifes, screws, and zippers.
Knife
A knife uses the applied force of the user to split an object in half. Because of the knifes thin edge it can can divide the forces in half equally on both sides.
Screw
Although screws can be used to to put thing together they can be used to split thing apart. A screw can be screwed into an object and separate it to make a position inside an object, speed rating each side equally.
Zipper
Zippers also operate as wedges because it separates itself. When you use a zipper you can separate the two conjoing strands using the handle of the zipper as a wedge, dividing the strand using equal amounts of force on both sides.
