Bearcat Brief

Notes from Niki

My challenge to you is to ask yourself each day, "What am I doing today that will have them running to get in the doors tomorrow?" I've seen kids in rooms excited to participate, trying new things with technology, and working together beautifully. Keep it up, you're making a difference in out students' lives.

The NWEA window opens next week. Thank you to each team for arranging the schedule. It is getting easier and easier as we add more chromebooks. Please take the time to talk about growth with students and growth mindset. We will have the time in our PD days to dig down on this data, but it is only useful if students try their best.

Maranda has shared an "MS NWEA Goal Sheet Template" on Google. I would really like to see kids have those in their binders and keep track of their progress. Please follow the directions that Crystal sent by e-mail about assigning tests. Also take note of the "Keep Students Engaged" document that was shared with you. It may help to explain to students that rapid guessing during the test actually makes them get more questions and may invalidate their test in which case they will have to take it again.

Basketball Games

The girls have been working really hard at practice and games will be starting soon. There are several games where we still need someone to do the clock and/or book. I will give a brief tutorial on Thursday, September 14 as soon as I come in from bus duty for anyone who might want to learn. It pays $25 per night.
