Relay for Life
Has cancer touched you or someone you care about? Now there is something you can do about it—right here in Springfield! For the first time in almost 25 years, the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life will be back at Springfield Township High School on Saturday, May 20th, from 4:00pm to 10:00pm. Why are we telling you about this now? Because now is the time to get involved! All high school students are invited to join a team created by Springfield Township High School teacher Mrs. Audrey Walsh. This Springfield Spartans team is organizing all kinds of fundraisers to support the fight against cancer in the lead-up to the event. Participating in Relay For Life is an excellent service project for students and a great thing to include on college applications. But it is not just for students—it’s a community event with opportunities for people of all ages and interests to participate in, from volunteering to forming teams to promoting your business through sponsorship. For more information, contact Assistant Principal Mr. Pierre LaRocco at pierre_larocco@sdst.org and visit the Relay For Life website at www.relayforlife.org/pawv.
