What is Coffee with the Counselor?
Mrs. Hentges, our Counselor, would like to connect with parents/guardians to share helpful information and resources. She has started a program called “Coffee with the Counselor” where parents/guardians can participate in a short presentation followed by a question and answer period covering a specific subject. Each Coffee with the Counselor will be different and provide new information and resources. Mrs. Hentges hopes to have a great turnout and will plan to do one per quarter. The 2nd Coffee with the Counselor will be delivered with Patti Alewel, a Certified Marriage and Family Therapist, who has been in private practice and has over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families. Patti has presented on various subjects including: Parenting, stress management, depression and anxiety.
Next Coffee with the Counselor: Stress, Anxiety, and Depression
Tuesday, December 4th 6:00 - 7:15pm in the Elementary Cafeteria
Most people experience stress and anxiety from time to time. Stress is any demand placed on your brain or physical body. People can report feeling stressed when multiple competing demands are placed on them. The feeling of being stressed can be triggered by an event that makes you feel frustrated or nervous. Anxiety is a feeling of fear, worry, or unease. It can be a reaction to stress, or it can occur in people who are unable to identify significant stressors in their life.
Is your child dealing with stress, anxiety or depression? Are you having daily struggles and really do not know where to go from here?
Join us for a discussion on stress, anxiety and depression. We will talk through what this may look like and help with some strategies that parents can use to help their child be successful.
