Our Monthly Theme: Growth Mindset

Multicultural Night
Multicultural Night is back and will take place on Friday, October 6th from 6pm-8pm at Walnut Hills. Multicultural Night is an experience where we share space as a caring community to learn about the diverse cultures that make up our Walnut Hills family. Come out to learn and share traditions, foods, clothing, cultural artifacts, and information through music, performances, demonstrations, food samples, creative displays, and more.
Click the link to sign up and indicate how you would like to participate in Multicultural Night. This will allow us to organize space, schedules, and resources for the event. We hope you'll help make this night memorable, educational and fun. Our next meeting is Tuesday, September 19th 6-7 P.M. at Walnut Hills Community Elementary. We will confirm plans and offer supplies that families can use to create their displays.

In preparation for Multicultural night, students will be working on a project that will highlight and celebrate their culture.
How can families help?
Check out the Culture Wheel above and talk with your kids about various aspects of your family’s culture, share stories about traditions, rituals, foods, language, etc., locate pictures and artifacts that kids may want to share in their displays. That will help students come in with some background knowledge and they will feel inspired to share.
Walnut Hills Families, we need your help.
We have received communication from various members of the neighborhood surrounding our school who have expressed concern over student safety, property damage, and disrespect from parents and guardians of our students. We are asking you to please be mindful of your rate of speed, especially during dismissal. Obey traffic signs by not doing U-turns on Uinta near the school. Do not block home owners driveways. Keep clear of the bus lane and painted yellow curbs surrounding the school. Lastly, if a home owner or staff member asks you to move, please do so with haste. Show our students that we are the kind, caring, compassionate community that I know we can be.
Kindly,
The WAL Staff
