Chris Chapman
Pre-Service Teacher
About Me
My name is Chris Chapman and I will be in your student's classroom with Mrs. Chester! I will be in her 4th grade classroom for my Field Placement at Truett-McConnell College. I will begin my student teaching in a different classroom in January. However, I will be in Mrs. Chester's class for 8 weeks.
I am looking forward to working with your child. My philosophy of teaching is very simple. I believe that all kids can learn when given individualized expectations at a mastery level in a safe, supportive environment! My goal as a pre-service teacher is to inspire and motivate students to exceed the expectations by becoming lifelong learners. I do not want to teach students information and facts. Rather, I want to teach them how to learn so that they will continue to learn for the rest of their lives. I think the younger the students are, the more impact teachers can have on their lives! One great teacher can impact a child's education for years to come. This is my goal in my short time in Mrs. Chester's 4th grade class!
Now, I want to share with you a little about myself. I live in Buford, GA close to the Mall of Georgia. I attend North Metro Baptist Church right behind the Gwinnett Braves stadium. I go to Truett-McConnell College and hope to graduate with an Early Childhood Education degree in May. I love hiking in the North Georgia mountains! My favorite place to go is called Water's Creek (aka Dick's Creek). Overall, I know that God has called me to work with children and make a difference in their lives!
For my field placement requirements, I will teach Social Studies in Mrs. Chester's class for 2 weeks. The unit I will be teaching is on the early colonies in America. I will cover religious persecution, the Quakers and William Penn, and the three colonial regions: New England, Mid-Atlantic, and Southern colonies. I will begin teaching my unit on October 28, and I will teach for 2 weeks. You will most likely see or hear things that we will be doing in class.
Thanks for your time and your support in my educational experience. If you come to Mrs. Chester's class, feel free to say hello to me. I would love to meet you!
Sincerely,
Chris Chapman
