February News
Well, the groundhog saw his shadow, and determined we shall have 6 more weeks of winter. I think we experienced a little winter weather this weekend, and the cold temperatures are here to stay for a few days.
We have now had a couple of AMI days due to cold weather and bad roads this week. Your students have been getting on their google meets, submitting and completing their work, and participating in learning. Thank you for your support with this!
Our friendship parties are right around the corner! Thank you for your support with getting supplies and valentines here in time to "quarantine" them for the parties. We are discussing an alternative date pending any further snow day/virtual (AMI) days. Please watch for a communication from your child's teacher for updates on this. The students are getting so excited!
We are also celebrating the 100th day of school this week! Zero the Hero and a couple of her friends will be stopping by to celebrate this special day with our Kindergarten and First grade classes!
Let's keep up our hard work and continue our learning for the next 100 days! Be sure to ask your child to tell you something they learned or something they are proud of each day. They all have so much to share with you!
We also have a short survey put together by some of our RP Seniors for a project they are working on. If you could, please take a moment to complete their survey. Click link here
Have a wonderful week, and as always, please reach out with any questions or concerns you may have. I am always happy to talk with you.

Board approves calendar for 2021-2022 school year
The Ray-Pec School Board on Jan. 28 approved the calendar for the 2021-2022 school year. The first day of school will be Monday, Aug. 23.
For winter break, students will be dismissed early on Dec. 17. Classes are not in session through Jan. 2. School resumes on Jan. 3, 2022.
Spring break is scheduled from March 21-25, 2022. The calendar does not include make-up days for inclement weather. Alternative Method of Instruction (AMI) days, also known as virtual instruction days, will be used for the first five inclement weather days. Additional inclement weather days will be added to the end of the year. View and print: Calendar
Proposition S includes new freshman center
Proposition S is the $72 million no-tax-rate-increase bond issue that Ray-Pec voters will consider on the April 6 ballot.
If approved by voters in April, Proposition S includes a new, larger performing arts center. The PAC is planned to be constructed as an addition to the current Ray-Pec High School.
The current Ray-Pec High School theatre was constructed in 1992 with a seating capacity of 422. As the district has grown, the seating is sometimes inadequate for performances by choir, band, orchestra, and theatre. Over the past few years, during development of the long-range facility plan, patrons, staff, and students have expressed support for a new PAC.
A modern performing arts center with a seating capacity over 750 will allow for more seating during performances, as well as potential community use. The new performing arts center would include updated technology, wing space, and a fly system for theatre sets.

PTA INFORMATION
We invite all families to join the Peculiar PTA as members of our school community. Joining the PTA does not obligate you any job, but gives you the opportunity to contribute and vote on decisions for our school family. PTA membership is $10 per family.
Please click the link below to complete the membership form: PTA Membership Form
Our PTA also compiles a school directory to be distributed to only families in our building. Peculiar Elementary can not distribute personal communication between families, so the PTA provides contact information for the families. Each family may provide as much or little contact information as they choose.
Please complete the directory form to show what, if any information may be shared. PTA Directory Information
