Team Standards Update
What I believe though is that you all have probably done more of them than you think already because some are natural (eventually this will become very natural and engrained into the culture of how we do things) and I think that if they are actually all filled out then we will see that number go up and up!
Shout out to all the LC's who are begun progress on implementing these, especially Appalachian, Georgia Tech, Eau Claire, and Ohio University! Keep it up yall!
If you are having trouble finding your tracker, find the link of the folder below.
*NOTE: total average is only an average for those LC's that have filled out the tool. Actual average is 5%
How to Run a Monthly Review
Remember those plans you made in December/January? It's time to check in on those :)
To deliver the Global Leader experience in the right way, we must have spaces for evaluation and times for our teams to reflect on the work and progress we've made. It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day but it's important to zoom out.
Below is an example of how you can run one in your local committee.

What does it mean that #MarchIsTheMonth? It means that it's the month to try anything and everything to achieve our goals. And it means it's the month to celebrate each action that gets us closer to them. We must work harder than we ever have and be more creative and brave than we ever had because our purpose is bigger than our differences and now more than ever, cultural understanding and leadership development are vital.
We are an organization that is centered around learning by doing, but we are not doing enough learning fast enough because we are not doing. Yes, there must be some learning before the doing so that we are capable, but then we must have the courage to put ourselves out there and do.
With your LC's, get into a cycle of DO, LEARN, DO, so that we may get better with each cycle of it. We must experiment so we can learn from mistakes and improve and then we must do again to practice and accomplish more each day. See how fast you can get on this cycle because time is of the essence. Matching peak will come to an end before we know it and our window of opportunity will be gone.
When you or someone in your LC does something cool and innovative that's #FreshOutTheKitchen share with the network so that we may learn faster together. And if you have a member who has accomplished something that gets you closer to achieving your goals - a first sales meeting, matching an EP - you name it, share their greatness with us at the link below and we'll share it with the plenary!
Your Questions Answered
How do you change old members' fixed mindsets? With regard to activities and functions. Example: people thinking Global Villages are effective, or people thinking only VP's sell.
Great question! First thing, is to check out the video below - this is a nice way to open someone's mind about the difference between a growth vs fixed mindset. Beyond that, when trying to push any sort of strategy or any sort of change, it is important to be able to communicate the value. The other thing is to be able see their side of things to be able to speak their language and not just your own.
How can TM really push and encourage exchange to move forward without overstepping?
Another great one - TM and exchangers are both managers of programs and we each have goals and ambitions for our programs. And we are both trying to deliver a high number of quality and developmental experiences. Their stakeholders are students who want to go abroad, or students who come here and ours are students who are managing the sales and delivery of those experiences.
The way that their stakeholders develop is by going on exchange and the way our members develop is by selling more of those experiences and delivering more of those experiences. So our bottom lines are directly connected. If our members do more they learn more and that means more exchange experiences for their programs too.
It is important for both TM and FIN to push the exchangers and visa versa. You are a VP at that table too so own your role - but also back it up by the things you can provide and the ways you can both work together.
So make them feel something amazing - something that makes them come alive and own their authenticity. Make them feel inspired to action.
Just a little friendly advice about how to approach your role, the way you train, the way you converse, the questions you ask, and your overall interactions with people.
Have a great week ahead!
