From the Principal's Desk...
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I wanted to take a few minutes to encourage all parents of students with Social Media accounts to monitor their student’s accounts regularly. Over the last week, we have had multiple St. John’s students who have found fake Social Media accounts created in their name. These accounts are being used to attack other students in our building, and this is not acceptable. While these accounts are not being created nor accessed at school, it is causing distress to some of our students, and it needs to stop immediately. If we are able to identify the student(s) who are creating these accounts, swift disciplinary action will be taken as these actions directly violate our student code of conduct.
Parents, I am asking for your help. First, please check the Social Media accounts associated with your sons and daughters. If you see an account that is created in another student’s name in your student’s profile, please delete the account immediately. Second, please speak to your children about the consequences of their digital footprint. Being a mom of a teenage daughter, I know that raising a preteen or teen in this digital age is tough, but Social Media sites have age restrictions for a reason. Students under the age of 13 do not have the mental reasoning abilities to understand the consequences of their online actions. I know it is hard to tell your children no when they want to get Tik Tok or Snapchat. My intention in this is not to tell you how to raise your child(ren). Instead, I want to encourage you to regularly monitor their online activity to ensure they are being kind and respectful of their peers. Social Media will continue to be a part of the lives of our students, and we need to work together to monitor and teach acceptable technological behavior.
Over the next few weeks, I will be speaking to all of the grades about appropriate online behavior, and we will work this topic into our Blue Jay Time. I encourage each family to discuss the importance of being nice and kind to one another both in person and online.
Thank you for your help in this matter.
Sincerely,
Courtney Weinheimer

Shopping Cent$ Fundraising Program
Shopping Cent$ orders will be filled this Thursday, 9/1.
Shopping Cent$ is a program that raises money for our school without costing you anything more than you normally spend. We purchase gift cards at a discount and then sell them at face value, sending the profits directly back to the school. If you buy gift cards from us and use them like cash at your favorite retailers, restaurants and gas stations, we earn money - it's that easy! We have a range of cards in stock - Amazon, Skyline, Target, Meijer, Speedway, Ulta, Starbucks and so much more!
Orders are always filled on Thursday, every other week, and order forms will always be sent home on Wednesday. Your order will be sent home on Thursday, unless you have a special order or something is out of stock. You will get a note back if that is the case. Please let us know immediately if your order doesn't make it home on Thursday so that we can track it down.
If you would rather make an online purchase to help the school, you can buy cards through our online partner, raiseright.com. Go there to create an account and enter our school code - A1EFFA5L1L12. Ecards are available or you can have cards shipped to the school at no shipping cost to you. Raise Right also has an app available to download. For online purchases, you can use a credit card or link to a bank account for a small fee.
We are also in need of volunteers to sell cards at the weekend masses, especially at the 4:30 Saturday mass. It's an easy way to volunteer and takes less than 1 hour a month! We can be flexible with scheduling - we just need some help! Please contact Amy Roetting at amyroetting@hotmail.com if you are interested in helping.
Thanks for your support!
