The Weekly Howl
St. Francis Catholic School - Friday, October 22nd
25 Years of Growing Together in Faith & Knowledge
Dear SFCS Parents & Friends,
It was another great week at SFCS with much to celebrate!
First, congratulations to our Sr. Girls Volleyball Team that completed their amazing yesterday winning the Lowcountry Volleyball Championship!!! Way to go Wolves!!! Thank you to our volunteer coaches again that worked with the athletes this season!
Also, this week we had no new close contacts or positive cases in our school community! We actually ended the week with no students learning virtually. Thanks be to God! Our school, along with the other Catholic schools in the Lowcountry deanery, will begin phase 2 of the Diocesan mask exit plan. This means that we will be able to go with what was originally in our COVID-19 re-opening plan at the beginning of this school year. Beginning Monday, it is optional for students and faculty to wear masks as long as a 3 feet of social distancing is maintained. Of course, if students want to continue to wear a mask they may. We have many students that still wear them when they are able to take them off.
But what most of our students are looking forward to right now is Halloween!!! On Friday, October 29th St. Francis Catholic School will be having our infamous Trunk o' Treat Halloween Parade. The parade will begin at 1:00pm sharp and will begin with PreK and go in order. Parents, siblings and guests are not permitted to walk with the students in the parade. Teachers will be working hard enough in keeping all their students together. Students will not be allowed to come to school in their costume. That includes makeup, hair dye and other accessories. Since it is the final Friday of the month, the students will be allowed to wear their 25th Anniversary t-shirts to school. Spirit Day Uniform Policies will apply for the morning. Students will not be allowed to bring weapons or other inappropriate props with their costume. I would go as far to recommend no props at all unless it is completely necessary. If the students don't want them lost, broken or tampered with then I recommend keeping them home unless completely necessary. Costumes should be appropriate in nature; nothing too gory or revealing.
We still are limiting the amount of people in the building and potential exposure for the students. So parents are not allowed to attend the class parties. We also ask that you do not sign your child out after the parade concludes. It becomes very chaotic for our office staff at that time of day. After the parade has concluded you may get in car line and wait for dismissal.
I know the students are really looking forward to Halloween! Thank you to the FSA who is coordinating the parade and to all the parents that have signed up to design a trunk. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!
Have a great weekend!!!
Sincerely in Christ,
Brian Pope

Both SFCS Volleyball teams claim Gold Division Championship at last week’s Diocesan Tournament!! Both SFCS teams battled tough opponents all day long and won their championships in thrilling tiebreaker matches against teams from bigger schools. Congratulations to the players, coaches and families that played a part in such a memorable day!!
SFCS Basketball Developmental Program Signups…our program is in its second year and geared for kids in pre-k through 4th grade. Since Upward Basketball is definitely a “no-go” again this year, there will be limited options on the island for young hoopsters this winter. Our Saturday morning program is fast-paced and a fun way for kids to learn some basic basketball skills while also having the opportunity to play some small-sided games. We hope that you’ll consider joining us again this January and February. Due to safety precautions, program space will be limited. Click on the link below to print out a copy of the Registration Packet.
Looking for Assistant to the AD…need an adult to help manage and supervise the gym on HOME game nights. Due a lack of coaches, I will be coaching both Senior Basketball teams this year…it’s the reality of the situation in order to have (4) basketball teams this season. This person would oversee gym operations and various parent volunteers on game nights from 3:30-6:30/7pm. If interested, please email me at mweaver@sfcshhi.com.

Virtue of the Week - PATRIOTISM
The Virtue for next week is PATRIOTISM
Paying due honor and respect to one’s country, with a willingness to serve.
Our Prayer:
Dear Jesus,
Please bless my country and all those who work hard to lead it.
Thank you for blessing us with many good gifts! May you always be
King of this land. May You be glorified through its government and laws.
Give me a heart of service, especially towards those who are week and defenseless.
Amen
