Calling All Kids With Kinks
Raising Confident Kinky, Coily and Curly-Haired Kids
This Family Friendly Event Will Feature A Storytime Dance Performance
Raising confident kids is hard under most circumstances. For parents, educators and mentors of children who have kinky, coily and curly-hair, the challenges associated with instilling confidence and a sense of pride into our children can be even more complicated. Especially when it comes to their hair and skin color. The event will explore these challenges through a storytime reading of the children's story Sunne's Gift by Ama Yawson which will feature a dance performance by Aspire2Dance and a reading of an excerpt of Afro-State of Mind: Memories of a Nappy Headed Black Girl by Author Lurie Favors.
