The Basics

Albinism, commonly called Albino, is caused by a lack of or no production of the pigment melanin. The amount of melanin your body produces determines the color of your skin, hair and eyes. Albinism causes an extreme sensitivity to sunlight due to the fair skin. Vision problems and protecting your skin are the biggest problems faced by most people with albinism.

Medical Research and Everyday Life

There are may medical centers and treatment facilities established all over the world. These places do their best to help reduce symptoms but Albinism has no cure that we know of as of right now. People that have this condition can live a normal life as long as they take minor precautions to protect themselves. They must wear sunscreen when exposed to sunlight. Many cases should wear glasses to protect their eyes from being damaged by the sun. little things like this can be the only difference in a person with Albinism's everyday life.
