Greetings from the Principal
Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! We want to warmly welcome our new students, parents and staff members to Wilson!
Wilson is the largest of Hays' elementary schools by numbers, boasting of 398 students presently. We have three sections/classrooms at each grade level, K-5.
Thank you for your attendance at our back-to-school night and grade level parent meetings. If you were unable to attend, please contact your child's teacher to receive pertinent information.
At Wilson, our tenets for success are to be "In Control, Respectful, and Responsible." We would appreciate your assistance in reinforcing those same attributes as they relate to school (and life) with your child(ren).

Welcome Mrs. Weilert!
Jeni Weilert is a kindergarten teacher, transferring to Wilson from Lincoln Elementary, where she taught second grade. Jeni and her family live outside of Hays.
Welcome Ms. Moritz!
Rebekah Moritz is a first-year teacher in first grade with a great deal of student experience, having been the after school care director at Lincoln. Rebekah is a Hays native and Hays High graduate.
Welcome Mrs. Dees!
Alyssa Dees is a first-year public school teacher in third grade with a vast background of working with students in Christian education. She and her family moved to Hays from Goodland, KS.

REMINDERS
- Morning Supervision and breakfast do not begin until 7:26 AM. Students dropped off before that time are UNSUPERVISED.
- If your child wears FLIP-FLOPS to school, please send an extra pair of shoes, just in case they should break during the day.
- Wilson website will soon be updated, but the calendar is correct. www.wilson.usd489.com
- Wilson is a peanut and tree nut-aware school. We have many students with severe allergies. Please plan lunches and snacks accordingly!
- Please park ONLY in the designated parking areas and model correct use of the CROSSWALKS.
- Bike riders, please wear helmets and remember that cars have the right-of-way.
- If sending money to school, please either mark on the outside of the envelope and/or on the check memo line exactly what the money is for and FOR WHOM.
- Wilson Warrior programs begins this month. Please check the calendar for your child's special day.
- You are welcome to visit school any time. When you arrive, please check in to the office. If it is your first visit, you will need to bring your valid driver's license to have it scanned into our security software.
- If your child is absent, please call the office by 8:30 a.m. of that day. If you know in advance, please let your child's teacher know so that any makeup work can be arranged.
- If you have not, please designate Wilson Elementary on your Dillon's Reward card. We receive 5% of all purchases made, at no cost to you!

Welcome Mrs. Dreiling!
Mindi Dreiling, fifth grade teacher, transferred to Wilson from Lincoln Elementary. Mindi and her family live just a few blocks from Wilson!
Welcome Mrs. Loving!
Rachel Loving will be taking Mrs. Meredith's place as our nutrition and office secretary (Mrs. Meredith is moving to HMS). Rachel and her family live south of Ellis.
Welcome Mrs. Klaus!
Suzanne Klaus, computer lab supervisor and technology instructor, joined Wilson Elementary after working at FHSU for many years. Mrs. Klaus and her family live outside of Hays.
