GCN
You all should have received an email (around the beginning of July) from support@gcntraining.com. This email will provide you with a link to go on to the GCN website to complete the state-mandated safety trainings for this school year. Please make sure that all of these trainings are completed before April 1, 2019.
August 13 & 14 Inservice
Our two day inservice is coming up quickly. We are very excited to have you all back! Both a continental breakfast and a lunch will be provided by Marian for all Staffulty both days. Please see the attached agenda for the two days. You will notice that on Monday there is an activity at 10 am called "What's Your Color." In preparation for that activity, please utilize the following links in order
Color Test: https://www.colorcode.com/choose_personality_test/
Color Test Google Form: https://goo.gl/forms/bzfYITZfuAIoyn443
We are sure that some of you have either seen or experienced the Color Test at some point in your life, but we thought that doing some activities together in connection with this might help us to function even better in team environments, as well as just having a little fun! Please complete both links prior to coming to Monday's inservice.
Marian Committees
Many of you have already been involved in one or more committees at Marian that help to provide a collaborative environment that provides the best possible education for our students. We want to thank you for your continued commitment to our students and school. This year, we are adding and/or changing a few committees so we wanted to give all staffulty members the opportunity to get involved. During our opening inservice days we will be putting out sign up sheets for all of the committees in which you might want to volunteer to be on. If you have already been participating in one you can either re-sign up for it, or choose to venture to another one that interests you. Please click on the following link for brief descriptions of each, including the potential time commitment for you to consider prior to our inservice.
Have a great week!

TECHNOLOGY CORNER
Information on the One-to-One Roll Out
- About 6 teachers took advantage of last week Wednesday's available training with Julie & Kasey as they picked up their new devices. There are still about 10 teachers who have not picked up their devices. Please know that you can still pick up your device anytime the office is open. Just stop in and ask to see Julie Houk.
- The student devices were delivered to Marian last Friday, and ever since they hit the loading docks, Julie and her team have been working feverishly to image all 660 devices! It has been a daunting task! We have several groups working closely with Julie including our new partner, Cloud Cover, who will provide continuous network support, including monitoring, filtering, and assisting in the servicing of all devices. We also have a partnership with Microsoft Woodfield, and their team will be working with us on distribution and training for both the students and staff.
- While you are planning out your first lesson plans for the year, we want you to be aware of the anticipated distribution plan we have for getting the devices into all of our students' hands. Because of the late delivery of the devices, we had to push the distribution and student training to the week of August 20. Please read over the parent letter that will be going out on Monday, Aug. 6 so that families can sign up for a session and receive both the device and some basic training. Through this letter you will be able to gauge when your students will have the devices in their hands and can start to utilize them in your classes.
- As we shared with you at the end of last year, the main focus of this year's PD will be on technology. We will keep you as updated as possible on what types of training will be available as we plan it out, but a lot of the decision on the types of training needed will be on your responses to a brief survey. This survey will provide us with a baseline of your level of comfort in using technology int he classroom as well as what you feel might be the most advantageous training that meets your needs! Please be watching your email for this survey.
Technology Support In-House
As you already know, Julie Houk is our in-house Technology Coordinator. Not only does she coordinate with all of the outside agencies like Microsoft and Cloud Cover, but she oversees all of the purchasing and maintenance of ALL technology within our building. She is also responsible for maintaining all network accounts, maintenance and troubleshooting with regards to all technology, supporting Staffulty in their use of our student information system, Rediker, and most anything else related to technology.
As of the 2018-19 school year, Kasey Gallagher will be beginning her transition to becoming Marian's Educational Technology Integration Specialist (ETIS). Although this year she will still be teaching three classes, the rest of her time will be dedicated to helping teachers and departments to begin the process of integrating technology into all areas of our curriculum. She will work closely with departments as they begin to develop technology goals, be a support to teachers as she creates learning resources and professional development training opportunities that meet the needs of individual teachers within their specific content area, and work closely with Julie to ensure that our technology is working at the optimal level for our entire Marian family.
Please know that as we take this technological journey together, that we will continue to provide the most comprehensive support possible in order to make this a successful endeavor.
