WBMS Friday Notes
August 16th
Reflections from Ms. Williams
WBMS Parents and Guardians –
We had an outstanding opening week! As soon as our 1,183 students (including 132 new enrollees from many various places in Georgia, the United States, and the world) entered the building on Monday, their positive energy and broad smiles filled WBMS, and I was quickly reminded what a lucky person I am to spend each week day with them. Not only are they curious bright, but also they are kind. Watching them support one another throughout the first week by offering directions to classrooms, helping one another open lockers, introducing themselves to new friends, and explaining how to locate the right bus makes me a proud principal. We are still balancing a few classes, so there may be some schedule changes next week, but overall, we are all set to have a fabulous year at Webb Bridge Middle School.
Additionally, WBMS feels fresh due to summer upgrades. Our media center is transformed and now has a full Maker Space and Learning Labs to promote exploration and collaboration. Additionally, many advancements occurred throughout the building; the following is brand new: bleachers; stage flooring; drinking fountains; hallway and classroom ceiling tiles; classrooms, atriums, and cafeteria flooring; classroom cabinetry; toilets; sinks; HVAC system; and hallway, gym, and parking lot lighting. Our landscaping was also enhanced with improved site drainage, grading, and additional sod between the hallway wings. Thank you for supporting the one penny sales tax that is used for these types of upgrades!
This is truly an amazing community, and I feel fortunate to be part of it! Enjoy your weekend, Jaguars!

LRJ Foundation- #BetterThanYesterday
Dear Parents & Guardians,
The LRJ Foundation has the opportunity to be a part of your student's Health Class curriculum serving in the Mental Health unit. Last year we educated on the importance of healthy relationships for our mental health, setting boundaries, and instilling a positive mindset with empathy at the core. For more details, please see the attachment of our interactive programs held at Webb Bridge.
Our educational organization provides much needed knowledge in the mental health unit. The 2019-2020 education will focus on mental wellness, anxiety, positive coping mechanisms, emotion regulation, building healthy relationships, and suicide prevention.
To kick off the program were are bringing in our Wear Yellow Day- #BetterThanYesterday message.
What is this all about?
It’s a day to come together and wear yellow to spread awareness of mental wellness, kindness, and show support to each other.
Better Together. One School at a Time.
Yellow is more than a color; it’s a movement to be #BetterThanYesterday
Once again, on September 10, 2019 we are painting Georgia Yellow!
Why do we do this day?
· Reduce the stigma against mental health and self-harm by normalizing dealing with life stressors and seeking out help
· Increase awareness & education on general mental wellness, positive coping, suicide prevention, and building healthy relationships
· Collaborate with the community and school that share our vision; Build constellations, not stars!
Who can participate?
EVERYONE!!
