Indiana Learns is thrilled to announce the expansion of eligibility to include students meeting all of the following criteria:
Student resides in Indiana
Student is currently enrolled in an Indiana school as a 3rd-8th grade student
Student qualifies for the federal free or reduced lunch program in 2022 or no later than October 2023
Student scored below proficiency in either Mathematics or English/Language Arts on ILEARN in 2022.
NOTE: 8th graders in the 2022-2023 school year can use funds from April 15-August 15, 2023. The funds will then expire, and cannot be used in 9th grade.
All students who qualify based on the updated criteria will have access to $500 in grant funds to be used with approved tutoring providers in the Indiana Learns online portal. Details about the expansion can be viewed in the attached slides. Schools who wish to access an updated list of eligible students can reach out to Alli Vanneman at avanneman@indianalearns.org.
Indiana high school students have the opportunity to enroll in free courses this summer at Ivy Tech Community College.
Students in grades 9 through 12 will get free tuition and textbooks, and there is no limit on the number of courses students can take. To qualify for enrollment, students must be Indiana residents at any high school, 8th graders entering 9th grade in the 2023-24 school year, graduating seniors, homeschool students, or students at adult high schools.
Check out this link: www.ivytech.edu/freecourses
Normally, one class (3 credits) would cost $448.65!
These free college courses are a great way to earn dual credits (credits count for both CCS and Ivy Tech). Dual credits are one component of the Postsecondary-Ready Competencies, which is used for ensuring that students in the State of Indiana are qualified for high school graduation.
Should you have questions about either the free Ivy Tech classes or dual credits and how they impact CCS high school graduation, please feel free to contact Mrs. Heaton or Mrs. Leeds.
The Creative Crusader Showcase is a free-will donation fundraiser to support the CCS Art & Specials Department.
