Principals Desk

Another absolutely full week of learning, fun, and celebrations at Lincoln. We kicked off the week with our run-a-thon on Tuesday. The day was filled with excited energy and positivity. Families came and cheered on their runners and we exceeded our goal of fundraising see below for the top fundraisers, and raffle winners. Wednesday was our early release day, teachers gathered and collaborated and shared their learning specifically focused on the new phonics unit in grades K-2 and mathematics tools in grades 3-5. Thursday our first graders went on a walking field trip to the library where they connected the learning about the community, wrote letters to local senior citizens and created a map of their walk and the surrounding community. We wrapped up the week with a beach day at Lincoln, students donated $1 to our kick-a-thon, cancer fundraiser. You still have a chance Monday to donate by donating $1 and wear your favorite hat!

Today at lunch, I shared with 4th and 5th graders our process for student council leadership positions. Students will take part in writing a letter of intent, having petitions signed to support their candidacy, and campaign. Below is the attached information they received today, signed petitions are due Tuesday in order to be included on our student council ballot. Information is below and interested students took the petition form and directions for the letter of intent, and parent permission home this afternoon (Yellow packet, due Tuesday, Oct. 5).

Next week is a shortened week, students attend school Monday-Wednesday and then we have parent-teacher conferences next Thursday and Friday, please use pick a time to sign up for conferences with your classroom teacher, or email specialists directly. Also, next Wed. is Walk to School Day, please encourage your son or daughter to walk to school, or arrive at 7:50 to walk the path on our black top to get some steps in before the day begins.

Finally today we celebrated Ms. Lopez our custodian on National Custodian Day--see photos below, students made keys expressing their gratitude for all she does for the lincoln community.
